Bard Prestige class help. [Archive] - Wizards Community

04-19-08, 02:13 PM So I decided to make a bard and my current route consists of 7 levels of bard, and 2 levels of sublime cord, but i need a couple class levels to fill in between the bard and sublime cord, a friend of mine suggested incantrix but im not so sure about that, if i were to do that the final build would likely be 7brd, 2sub, and probably 6itx.

The build is melee based with snowflake wardance, power attack, chant of fortitude, inspire spell power and a couple other feats.

Anyone have some better ideas?

04-19-08, 02:37 PM Hmmm im not so sure the sacred exorcist is what im going for, but the abjurant champion is a possability.

04-19-08, 05:39 PM Hit 1 level of virtuoso before you get sublime chord, then continue the SChord progression with virtuoso levels. The 'trix is nice, but continuing bardic music isn't bad either.

If you're going for a combat build, you could consider a bardic swiftblade (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/prc/20070327). It is weird, I guess, but not exactly bad - especially if you use it to boost your sublime chord progression. Something like bard 7/swiftblade 1/warchanter? 2 (or abjurant champion, if you find a way to add shield on your list)/sublime chord 1/swiftblade 9 (or 8) can be a quite passable "gish". Alternatively, get bard 7/Swiftblade 1/arcane duelist 2 (http://64.223.12.31/default.asp?x=dnd/re/20030224a)/sublime chord 1/swiftblade 9

04-20-08, 12:08 AM The duskblade class from PHB II might be a good choice for multi-classing if you want a melee build with your bard/sublime chord. 6 levels of duskblade will give your character a number of good abilities that should work well with your feat choices and if you learn any strong 4th and 5th level touch spells from your sublime chord levels, the duskblade's arcane channeling at 3rd level will let you whack your opponent with them through your weapon. The only problem might be that the duskblades class skills don't include the Listen skill, but if your DM is reasonable, you could ask to swap probably Climb, Decipher Script, Jump, Ride, or Swim for Listen.
Storywise, a bard of all the base classes would easily have heard tales of ancient elven warrior mages that combined steel and sorcery in their fighting style. Seek out the local priests of Correllon Larethian, make a humble offering, and request knowledge of a duskblade who could teach you the ancient elven ways.
