Bard's ability : Inspire Courage [Archive] - Wizards Community

I have a question regarding the bardic ability : Inspire Courage. To maintain this ability active, does it require something like a standard action or move-equivalent action?

If a bard chooses Perform (Sing) to use this ability, can he continue to sing and inspire his allies while fighting his enemies?

06-19-04, 08:12 AM It's a standard action to start the effect, but it makes no mention of concentraition to maintain so no additional standard actions to maintain the song.

You generally can't do anything that requires your voice whilst maintaining the song... but you're still free to move and fight whilst maintaining it. It's all in the PHB under the Bards description.

06-19-04, 01:53 PM Exactly. Bardics Music (all Bardic music) costs a standard action to start but a free action each round thereafter to continue. It stops if you start another Bardic Music ability (which two exceptions: if using a Stringed instrument from Song and Silence or if using Suggestion during Fascinate) or cast a spell, it ends. You can fight, though.
