| Gandal 'The Grim Fisted'01-04-06, 08:46 PM | I'm playing a Bard. Can I talk or otherwise issue commands whilst using Bardic Music. As BM(singing) is quite liberal in what it says constitutes a 'song', I assume you could intersperse at least basic speach into your BM. You would essentially adlib lyrics or perhaps 'rap'... you could even 'describe' the events of the battle, throwing in disparaging descriptions of your enemies. ATM my DM is allowing it but I curious if this has come up in your games and/or there is an official ruling on it. Thanks |

If you're playing a lute, there's no reason you can't talk at the same time. I think that the ban on using spell-completion items is for balance, but is explained as the concentration it takes to create the effect. After all, it's a supernatural effect, not just making music (any minstrel can do that). Many people take something like singing so that they can still fight while maintaining the effect. (Hard to viably wield a rapier or bow while playing a hand harp. Well, unless you have more than two hands.) |
