| windscar1809-25-05, 09:10 PM | Hmm...that immediately strikes me as a Wizard or Cleric needed party. But yes, bard would also work quite well as rogues and monks don't really have the greatest base attack bonus, so bards help in that aspect. Plus, some skills might be helped by Inspire Competance. |

So that alone helps the Bard be useful. He would be the go to guy for buying stuff/selling stuff. Bards are useful boosters to others with songs, but adequate warriors after buffs like mirror image. If no one is Druid/cleric; you may want to hire an NPC one unless you will be party healer. Bard 10 is very nice, but there are nice templates too. For LA +1: Choas Gnome Stat: +2 dex, +2 con, +2 cha, -2 str (From Races of Stone) Drow: Int +2 Cha +2 Asssimar: +2 Wisdom, +2 Charisma. LA +1 From SRD/XPH: DROMITE: Stats +2 Charisma, –2 Strength, –2 Wisdom. PHRENIC CREATURE Template: Level Adjustment: Same as base creature +2. Abilities: Increase from the base creature as follows: Int +2 (if Int is 3 or greater), Wis +2, Cha +4. These are good. |
| daken20109-25-05, 09:36 PM | if i go bard then i shall probly take the half-fey template for the bonus to cha and the charm person ability and the flying dosent hurt eather but after looking at the classes abit more i am starting to think an artificer might be better what are your thoughts? |
| Sluagh09-25-05, 11:25 PM | I just started playing a "bard" tonight in the Forgotten Realms setting. Really he's primarily a Rogue with a level of Bard (Rogue 4, Bard 1), but he plays himself off as a bard to the group. So far I'm enjoying it and bards are useful (I have played a bard once before too), but as has been mentioned, your group would stand well to have a healer, Druid, Cleric or Favored Soul would fit that well. The Bard's skill list and points would help the group nicely, as well as the music abilities nad Bardic Knowledge, but you already have a skilled class represented with Rogue. Our current group doesn't have a healer in it either, it is possible to do well without, but it is nice to have one in the group. He's also a whip fighter, so, with the Bard level, I didn't use a feat for the whip proficiency... |
| CaoSlayer09-26-05, 07:21 AM | there is a trick for that group. Take the bardic prc warchanter from complete warrior and with one of the songs, you can have all the party with your level as BAB (that it is rogues being able to sneak attack 4 times, and monks with 20/20/20 furry of blows). --- Also the sublime chord with empower this arcane casting, allowing to turn it from a secondary caster to a primary one without many sacrifices. |
