Okay, let me start off with some background info.

I'm currently in the workings of making a world with civilization vs. barbarism. Low-magic world, so I don't want the bards from the tribes/clans (barbaric parts of the world) to have spells.

Which made me wonder what would be fair to give Bards to change them enough into a wilderness setting while taking away their spells?

I'll be mixing a little in their skills (haven't really checked that much up on Class Skills yet), and I'm thinking about giving these Skalds the ability to rage like the barbarians.

Although there are Prestige Classes for what I'm looking for (Warchanter) my point is I want to completely have away with spells from Bards, so they can still later take on prestige classes if they wish it.

I guess what I want is a mixing between Bards and Barbarians which doesn't have access to spells. I know spells aren't a lot for Bards, but I feel it's still taking too much away from them if I were to just say "Bards don't have magic".

If anyone have some ideas, please :)

There's Warrior Skald in one of the FR books. Probably not quite what you're looking for.

If you're really going for a low magic game (and remember bards don't have earthshattering magic anyway), I'd be happy with adding Spot and Survival to their class skill list and either raising their HD to D8 and giving them 8+Int modifier skills/level or raising their BAB to that of a fighter, giving them the Barbarian's speed increase and swapping their high Ref save for a high Fort save. If only the other side gets magic, do both (as you will need to beef up the fighters).

ranthanas have done a good point, bardic spellcasting it is very powerful and such d8 and good bab (like the one that have the "bardarian" prc warchanter) it is worth enought.

Another solution would be changing their spellcasting to divine (druid) type, so now he can only would be able select spells from the druid spell-list and those listed as bardic only (glibness) or (-1 caster level /vs wizard/sorcerer, like charm X, dominate and such) and give them back competence with medium armor. This comes from the original D&D bard that it is based in a kind of druidic magic.
