| R2-DS08-06-06, 07:42 PM | You know it just occurred to me.......... All these years of roleplaying and i've been so shortsighted with my sources of inspiration. Lets see, theres popular film, television, literature..........but somehow i've always overlooked "MUSIC" Man I love music, i've even used it in my campaigns to set moods and themes....... Have any of you ever put together a "Bardic Band" per say? I really think this could be fun. Each player taking a different "perform" skill to round out the band. Now.....how do I convince my group? Hehe. |
| KirkBb08-06-06, 07:48 PM | Hmm... Now I can't remember if the bardic music buffs stack or not... it could actually be an incredibly powerful party if they did. |
| R2-DS08-06-06, 07:57 PM | You know, I never even thought of that. No matter, even if they dont..........Each member could use a different aspect of their "bardic Music" while "ROCKING OUT!!!!" |
| R2-DS08-06-06, 08:32 PM | I'm thinking it would be like some twisted perverse version of Scooby Doo mixed up with Josie and the Pusycats....... Band rolls into town......solves mystery.....plays benefit gig!! WHOOT! |
| Ghostwheel08-06-06, 08:49 PM | Music can inspire DM's as well. There is an album called "In the Court of the Crimson King" by the band "King Crimson" which contains a wealth of material that I used in my first fledgling campaign many years ago. I am working on a new campaign that will be an amalgam of many sources, and I am once again looking toward music for inspiration, names and any other usable elements. As for an all-Bard (or mostly-Bard) party, that seems like a great idea as long as the DM is willing to play along by designing adventures suitable for such a band. |
| frasmage08-06-06, 08:50 PM | Unfortunately the bonuses do NOT stack, Though I think you could have something: give them each a different perform based PrC: -1 seeker of the song (CArc), combat control/utility -1 sublime cord (CArc), full spellcasting/control -1 envangelist (CD), party voice/buff -1 virtuoso (CAdv), utility -1 warchanter (CW) - and so on, if other bardic PrCs suit your fancy, toss it in Also try giving them each a different music feats - stuff like haunting song (Eb), etc. There are a lot of those in Eb. Sound like it might work? |

| ElIsRa08-07-06, 02:33 AM | My group did this once. It was loads of fun, but it had a short life span. I was actually the only non-bard in the group. A Human Rouge/Conection who acted as the group's manager. :) |
