Bardic Lore? [Archive] - Wizards Community

01-06-06, 04:45 PM There isn't a 'class feature' board, so I decided to put this thread here...

I have always liked the Lore ability of the bard... though not really anything else of the bard, really. Never been my class of choice.

The Cloistered Cleric, however, also gets the Bardic Lore ability.

Now while going through Complete Adventurer, I sore the Obscure Lore feat, which gives a +4 to Lore checks...

does anyone think this is worthwhile?

I should point out that the build I'm creating will only have three levels of Cloistered Cleric... so Obscure will only give me +7 to my D20... I don't think there's anything else that can increase this...

01-06-06, 04:49 PM +4 is a decent bonus for a feat like that. Compare it to Skill focus which gives a bonus of +3.

If the lore ability is a real focus for your character concept, then I would say a +4 bonus is worth it.

The concept is more attached to the fact that he's a worshipper of a fallen cleric... so yes, having the Lore gives him the knowledge to know the god.

Alright, I'll take it in my build.

Is there anything else that can increase the strength of Lore?

Obviously Knowledge (history) grants a synergy bonus of +2 and (if you are a gnome with an Intelligence of 13 or more) the Trivial Knowledge feat (from Races of Stone) lets you roll any Knowledge or bardic knowledge check twice and take the higher roll (as many times per day as you like too).
