If you are multiclassed as a bard/barbarian can you use you bardic music while your in rage???

I would say no for two reasons:

1) Activation of the bardic music ability requires some level of concentration and the rage ability clearly states that you cannot use any ability that requires concentration while in a rage.
2) Bardic music requires ranks in Perform (Cha) to use. Since the barbarian cannot use any Charisma-based skills except Intimidate, then I would say he cannot use his Bardic Music ability.

actually you can use bardic music during a rage, as long as it does not require a preform check (so no fascinate or suggestion). Unearthed Arcana p. 73 gestalt combo bard/barbarian

Personally, I would say no as they should all require patience or concentration on some level. But in light of the correction I was given, here is how it should break down.

Countersong (Su): No, requires Perform check
Fascinate (Sp): No, it's a spell-like ability
Inspire Courage (Su): Yes, no check, patience, or concentration required
Inspire Competence (Su): No, requires concentration
Suggestion (Sp): No, it's a spell-like ability
Inspire Greatness (Su): Yes, no check, patience, or concentration required
Song of Freedom (Sp): No, it's a spell-like ability
Inspire Heroics (Su): Yes, no check, patience, or concentration required
Mass Suggestion (Sp): No, it's a spell-like ability

Given that a lot of drummers have a few levels of Barbarian, a blanket prohibition seems silly.

Bob's revised opinion above seems to fit, and is a good candidate for one or two of those "make this multiclass work better" feats as seen in Dragon a few months back...

"Crazed Inspiration" You may expend a Rage use while also expending a Bardic Music use to provide an additional bonus to Inspire Courage, Inspire Heroics, or Inspire Greatness.

Another feat "Savage Counterpoint" would allow Countersong to be used while raging, as the frantic drumming, occasional discordant horn blasts, or crazed recitation of ancestry at the top of his lungs allows a Raging barbarian to disrupt the carefully constructed sounds of an opponent.

its nice to know what your thinking... but wizards still disagrees :D

offically anything that doesnt require a perform check is good to go

Inspire Competence requires concentration.

From the SRD:
Inspire Competence (Su): A bard of 3rd level or higher with 6 or more ranks in a Perform skill can use his music or poetics to help an ally succeed at a task. The ally must be within 30 feet and able to see and hear the bard. The bard must also be able to see the ally.
The ally gets a +2 competence bonus on skill checks with a particular skill as long as he or she continues to hear the bard’s music. Certain uses of this ability are infeasible. The effect lasts as long as the bard concentrates, up to a maximum of 2 minutes. A bard can’t inspire competence in himself. Inspire competence is a mind-affecting ability.

Since he cannot concentrate while raging, he will not be able to Inspire Competence.

This makes sense logically as well. Could you be inspired to search better with someone raging next to you? I know I couldn't, in fact I would find it rather distracting.
