He knows something about everything, including melee and ranged combat, spellcasting (offensive, defensive and healing), thieving skills (and lots of other skills) and on top of that also the Bard-specific abilities. He's a Jack of All Trades. The best bet to get Bardic abilities is to choose Bard as a class.

-Defiler of Souls- 12-11-04, 07:59 PM	just try being a bard.... seriously its a fun class, your the master of social interaction and manipulation plus you arent bad in combate. think abou it you get the social skill(aka bluff/diplomacy ect...) of a rogue, 6+int skill points, bardic music that allows you to manipulate people, and truckloads of enchantment spells. even in combat you serve the group as a jack of all trade...if the group needs a backup healer, you can do it; if they need another warrior to soak damage or deal damage in an antimagic are you can help; the group needs some crowd control of enemies, your perfect; even if the group need alittle more damage, you have a few damage spell. point is theres very little abard cant do and despite the many people talking about how gimped it is its actually a pretty good class when played right...especially when you through in a few levels of cirtousso or something.
legowarrior 12-11-04, 09:16 PM	I miss the old Blade kit from 2nd edition. Your bard skills sucked, but you had those awesome abilities. I thought I could recreate it using the snowflake dance, but it just isn't the same.
TinManFan 12-11-04, 11:28 PM	If ya wanna, you can get some bard music as a Troubedor of the Stars form the BoEDs,however, it takes some feats to get into and might not leave enough development time for your goal PrC. I'd say just use bard, maybe pick up an early Bard PrC that fits your char's style, then go to the one you aimin for.
Zsasz_Diedne 12-11-04, 11:38 PM	The 2E kits rocked. To answer you Zeltari, yes there are ways, such as the Warrior Skald PrC, that grant Bardic music. Of course the requirement of 9 ranks of perform means you'll need to be 15th level before you qualify. Just go Bard my friend:)
Zeltari, beyond 12-12-04, 08:11 AM	I looked through most books yesterday, and saw that Bard is the choice, the idea is a toned down, dark bard whose music brings tears, something sad about him. Lika a fallen paladin is to a paladin my bard will be to a normal bard, just going to figure the rest of his levels and stuff. Thanks everyone!
