| The Vorpal Tribble05-31-06, 09:41 AM | I'm currently beginning play with a Darfellan bard who has the Sunken Song feat from Stormwrack, meaning he can sing even while underwater. Ok, so say he managed to trick someone into coming underwater, y'know, maybe 'Come lookit this fish!' and then began to sing, Fascinating them. Since I'm not threatening them in anyway, would it trigger the 'obvious threat' that ends the Fascination? Could I literally just keep singing until they drowned? My guy can stay underwater for some 12 minutes, so he'd not be concerned about his own breath. |

If I was DMing I might give the target a -1 on his save, though, since an underwater singing bard is pretty fascinating. A suggestion effect (which you get at level 6) could definitely get a person to jump in the water, even at the risk of drowning. |
| DragonRg605-31-06, 11:23 AM | I think that once they had to start making Con checks to hold their breath, they'd get at least a save each round, if not breaking the effect immediately. After all, it becomes obviously threatening when you start turning purple. |

| frasmage05-31-06, 04:09 PM | That is a really cool idea - Would be very effective in a nautical campaign. I would love to mass suggestion everyone to jump off the boat and then start singing and... hey, combat is over already? Now, seeing as sirens can do this everytime, I don't think its out of the question to keep them there until they drown (unless someone wakes them up from their trance). |
| The Vorpal Tribble05-31-06, 08:27 PM | Hrmmm, how exactly do sirens do it? I don't have the MM II on hand. |
| kelvinaw27305-31-06, 09:05 PM | I'd like to be, Under the sea, In an octupuses' garden, In the shade. Or, We all live in a Yellow Submarine ... Or, I'm forever blowing bubbles .... And when danger rears it's ugly head ... the theme from Jaws. I have to assume that he has some means of breathing water? |
| The Vorpal Tribble05-31-06, 09:17 PM | No, Darfellans, a +0 LA race from Strormwrack, can hold their breath for rounds equal to 8 x Constitution score. He's got a Con of 15 so 120 rounds, or 12 minutes. Thats why he needs Sunken Song, because only water-breathing races can normally sing underwater. |
