Bards and Wail of the Banshee [Archive] - Wizards Community

03-27-04, 03:20 AM Wail of the Banshee seems like an obvious choice for a high-level bard spell, and I was surprised not to find it on the bard spell list at 6th level. However, accepting that this is not a standard bardic spell, would a high-level bard, i.e 16th+, be able to research Wail as a unique spell to fill one of his level 6 spells known slots, following standard research rules and costs?

03-27-04, 03:26 AM no, it's simply too powerful to ever be a 6th level spell. now, a single-person targeted version of it ont he other hand.. well, that woudl effectively be Power Word:kill. hmm, not sure of the level on that spell. to lazy to look it up right now.

03-27-04, 03:32 AM As bard-ish as the spell is, I'd say No. Not because it's so powerful (which it is) but because it's 9th level. Bard's don't get 9th level spells. It's simply not done. It's the only level of magic unavailable to them, and it also happens to be the best.
