| HARLEYDUDE10-22-07, 12:40 PM | hey im looking for a PrC for a cleric. id like full spell progression. i will rebuke undead, and cast inflict spells not cure. i will not be evil, however i will not be good. probably CN or LN with evil tendincies. i plan to use him as the front line fighter. Thanks HD |
| Jaxgaret10-22-07, 01:04 PM | How about taking 20 levels in Cleric? You'll be hard pressed to find a martially oriented non-Exalted Cleric PrC with full spellcasting progression. |
| Ninja_Ferret10-22-07, 01:12 PM | I believe the hospitaler might be the PrC you are looking for. Though I dont know if it continues on with turning. And i believe its in the complete divine. Never mind that class. It was changed from last I remember it. |
| Jaxgaret10-22-07, 01:18 PM | A great choice for a Battle Cleric is the Ordained Champion, from Complete Champion. It only gets 4/5 spellcasting progression, but lots of martial benefits. Probably the best martial Cleric build will be a Cleric4/OrdainedChampion5/FistofRaziel10/Class1. But you have to be Lawful Good to qualify for that. Insert whatever you want for the last level - preferably something with Full BAB and +1 divine spellcasting. |
| Kadasbrass10-22-07, 02:43 PM | Cleric is best thing your going to find. Your not going to find a full caster progression class making the cleric a better fighter since the cleric is already a terrific figther as is... Heck there is even a spell giving the cleric full BAB from the Players Handbook. |
| dman1123510-22-07, 07:27 PM | Yeah, when choosing PrCs, ignore the BAB. After level 9 every combat cleric has full BAB anyway. Divine Oracle is nice, and so is Contemplative. Both from CDiv. They have poor BAB, but yeah. The contemplative gives you some monk things and bonus domains, and divine oracle gives you some oracly things like evasion and uncanny dodge. Stay away from war priest, straight cleric is a better melee fighter. |
| Jaxgaret10-22-07, 08:26 PM | Yeah, when choosing PrCs, ignore the BAB. After level 9 every combat cleric has full BAB anyway. Not necessarily. A Cleric can't have Divine Power up at all times, barring DMM: Persistent cheese. And even with DMM cheese, it can still be dispelled or suppressed. So, if even as just a backup, it is nice for a Cleric to have a higher base BAB. |
| dman1123510-22-07, 08:37 PM | Ah, that's why you get CL boosting things when you DMM cheese. No enemy caster's going to dispel your CL 20 divine power when your level 12. And you prepare two, just in case. Oh, and that's why I prefer persisting some, and then having metamagic rods of quicken. |
| HARLEYDUDE10-22-07, 08:41 PM | DMM: Persistent cheese. ????????? HD |
| dman1123510-22-07, 08:53 PM | Metamagic feat in Complete Arcane: persist spell. Makes it last for a day. DMM=Divine Metamagic. Feat in CDiv, with which you spend turn attempts to use a metamagic feat as opposed to preparing at higher levels. Personally I don't think it's that bad, but it does allow you to persist spells which you normally couldn't. Oh, and nightsticks are what break it. They give you extra turn attempts (Libris Mortis). |
| Jaxgaret10-22-07, 09:14 PM | Personally I don't think it's that bad, but it does allow you to persist spells which you normally couldn't. It's not that bad, but it is cheesy, enough so that many DMs ban it. Oh, and nightsticks are what break it. They give you extra turn attempts (Libris Mortis). DMM + Nightsticks is completely broken. Ah, that's why you get CL boosting things when you DMM cheese. No enemy caster's going to dispel your CL 20 divine power when your level 12. And you prepare two, just in case. Oh, and that's why I prefer persisting some, and then having metamagic rods of quicken. That's a lot of character wealth sunk into making sure you have Divine Power up at all times. |
| luedre10-22-07, 09:50 PM | A straight cleric, you're mad! I think you should go for NG Radient Servant of Pelor. Take the Radiant Fire feat and you'll have scorching ray and +2 insight on damage rolls vs evil subtype along with some other summon monsters(fire decriptor) of course, along with this feat, take a reserve feat for fiery burst. Now you're ready to do some damage, have divine health and can heal yourself to almost full with a few spells. |

This is the coolest think i have ever seen, Wow talk about optimizing a cleric, thats hows its done right there BRAVO!!!! |
| dman1123510-22-07, 11:19 PM | I wasn't the one to think of it. Thank CharOp. And my friend, who used DMM quicken (this one is probably more broken) to fling quickened horrid wiltings at our party while still getting a full round. I used persist in a campaign not too long ago, and it was fine, but I have yet to use DMM (any). If you take persist, some good spells are blindsight, ebon eyes, divine favor, mass conviction. All except divine favor are in the SpC. Quicken can help you get buffs up quickly, so you don't waste time. Having a persisted version and then a normal with metamagic rods is very useful. It's just expensive. |

| HARLEYDUDE10-23-07, 12:30 PM | GREAT Stuff guys -- keep it comin' i definately will look at "persistant cheese" however starting at 12th level, with starting wealth, a rod of quicken just wont happen! HD |
| Treantmonklvl2010-23-07, 12:54 PM | If you are OK with cheese - and your DM is encouraging optimization - Here's a Cleric build that will make all the non-casters in your group cry: The Cheater of Mystra (http://forums.gleemax.com/showthread.php?t=248239) At 12th level you are combining Persistant Divine Power with Persistant Draconic Polymorph. Absolutely broken to the 2nd highest degree (reserving the slot for Pun Pun). |

| dman1123510-23-07, 08:13 PM | Um, what? AMF affects you too. |
