I was playing a Worlds largest Dungeons run a couple months back and was thinking of trying this class out, but the party needed a cleric to round out the party.

But now, we are starting the Shattered Gates of Slaughterguard and am thinking of trying it out, and was wondering if anyone else has tried it, and how does it far... Seems solid to me, kinda like a cleric in my opinion, any comments on it?

basically its a gish in a can, free weapon profifiency, medium bab, casting, add abjurant champion to the equation and you have a nice and usefull character, just remember to pick your spells very very carefully, battle sorcerer actually has less freedom than the typical sorcerer when it comes to choosing spells, focus on buffing ones, then battlefield control and blasting/save or die for last resort

It depends .........

If you want a gish without a lot of multiclassing and PrCing it's the best way to go, especially in a campaign that restricts the number of PrCs you can take. If you are going to go battlesorcerer at least take 8 levels of it, otherwise you're better off going regular sorcerer and multiclassing and PrCing.

A simple battlesorcerer15/abjurantchampion5 is effective just like Modar said. If you don't mind losing a couple of caster levels battlesorcerer8/abjurantchampion5/swiftblade6/dragonslayer1 works well too.

So, it is a nice variant, not under/overpowered in any way???

Other than the abjurant champ, what are some good PrC's???

abjurant champion is always the best option, sacred exorcist too (gives you turn undead and that allows for divine feats fun), swiftblade if you don't mind losing caster levels, a dip in paladin then in spellsword might help too (but this is left for paladin/sorcerer only gishes)

a nice "battle sorcerer" gish could be Battle sorcerer 7/abjurant champion 5/Sacred exorcist 7

BAB 15, CL 20 and turn undead thus meaning divine feats like divine shield and divine might

A one level dip in sandshaper helps with the lack of spells known at the cost of a caster level

The Dragon Magazine/Compendium bloodline feats are a great investment, giving 1 more thematically selected spell per level. Frankly, I'd give all sorcerers that... Their magic comes from something, it ought to somehow reflect it.

Aside from that, yes, Abjurant champion is good. Eldritch knight is not that good, but could help with the BAB, and a few other gish PrCs might be worth it... If you do not want to PrC too much, check out the improved familiar options. I think there was a variant somewhere that allowed beasts large enough to act as mounts. A hippogriph mount with HPs based on yours and a shared mage armor/stoneskin might be worth the feat.
