| Zaknafein4360806-25-06, 01:07 PM | I was looking through variant classes and came across the battle sorcerer in a link posted by someone here on the board. I was wondering is this a legal variant and if so, what book is it in? Also, what is a better idea to try to play, a gestalt rogue//sorcerer or a battle sorcerer/blood magus? I am looking for opinions and suggestions here please. Thanks! |
| Fabius Maximus06-25-06, 01:42 PM | It's the sorcerer variant from Unearthed Arcana. And it's in the SRD: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#sorcererVari antBattleSorcerer |
| Witch06-25-06, 01:44 PM | Also, what is a better idea to try to play, a gestalt rogue//sorcerer or a battle sorcerer/blood magus? A battle sorcerer/blood magus is not a gestalt, so the rogue//sorcerer is better. However, you cannot just "play a gestalt character". Everyone needs to be one, or noone gets to be one. |

Everyone needs to be one, or noone gets to be one. I know that the sorcerer/blood magus is NOT a gestalt. What I am asking is which would be better to play in a high level campaign. I also know that if one character is gestalt, then all are gestalt. It's a VERY high powered character type to be playing. So I hope that you are done berrating me and can be a little more civil with my question? |
| Witch06-25-06, 04:16 PM | I don't get your question. You're asking which is better. I'm saying that choice cannot exist. You give a choice between a non-gestalt and a gestalt character. Exactly how would this choice every come up? |

Exactly how would this choice every come up? WHy can't he take battlesorcerer/blod magus? According to SRD: Prestige Classes The high-powered nature of the gestalt character variant gives you more room to create unique prestige classes. First, you can create narrowly specialized prestige classes, and they'll still be compelling choices for PCs because the characters can simultaneously advance in a regular class while taking levels in the prestige class. |

Exactly how would this choice every come up? What I am asking is what are to pros and cons of both choices. If I am in a campaign allowing gestalt classes or if I am in a normal campaign. The gestalt would then be a normal character and vice versa. The battle sorcerer would then be a rogue//battle sorcerer/blood magus, etc. Understand? |
| Vestigial_Thumb06-25-06, 04:45 PM | You still can't take a PrC from 1st level. |
| Zaknafein4360806-25-06, 04:58 PM | I know I can't be a blood magus at first level. This is a high level campaign I am entering into. I hope that helps any. |
| magmer206-25-06, 10:04 PM | You still can't take a PrC from 1st level. He is saying if it is better to play a Rogue//Sorceror or a Rogue//B.Sorceror/BloodMagus. I would say The Rogue//Sorceror. |
| ninjarabbit06-26-06, 01:13 PM | If you're gestalting the sorcerer is almost alway a better choice than a battlesorcerer, like in this case where you're getting medium BAB and improved hit dice from the rogue |
| Elemental_Master06-29-06, 01:16 PM | I think that the only think u get for being a b sorc is a d6 hit die and light armor. Not to mention u do lose like 2 spells per lvl. |
| belthazzar111306-29-06, 01:44 PM | if your going to gestalt anyway battle sorc isn't the best choice. THey are fine for a normal game if you want to be a more martial oriented caster but in a gestalt game its easy to pick up fighter sorc and not lose the spells. warmage is a better option since you actually get some class features and can cast in some armor. if your wanting magic to nuke. otherwize gestalting sorc with rogue is a very good option (though i personlally think warlock rogue makes for more fun) and hopefully the literalists will leave you alone about the sorc blood mage thing. just assume we are all taking about level 10-20 |
