You are absolutely correct.

A double negative equates a positive, where Astra has shown where your correctness can be found.

Now my fellowship and I do not follow the upgraded revision of the Dungeon and Dragons Roleplaying game, hence I wish to inquire about the socalled Prestige Classes that appeared before the revision, and whose statistic advantages compare those of a battlemage.

There is the version 3.0 'battlemage' PrC in Tome and Blood named the Spellsword, there was also an battlemage for elfs in that book too by the name of Bladesinger, both were upgraded in 3.5 Complete Warrior

But these are merely warriors that combine magic and weapons...what I am searching for is an arcane spellcaster that excell in magic on the battlefield...like the warpriest...is there any kind of specied spellcaster that truly is minded on battle and strife with magic and magic only?

use the warmage
it easily trumps all other mages on the battlefield...

No it doesn't. Dealing damage doesn't win fights past level 9 or so, it's all battlefield control, and the warmage can't do that.

The warmage is good for about 5 or 6 levels, then starts to drag.

We are testing Battle Sorcerer variant from Unearthed Arcana, it's pretty decent for melee-spellcaster types (d8 hd, medium BAB, casts like sorcerer but no spell failure in light armour, takes a hit on spells known and spells per day).

I'm using a modified Battle Sorcerer (named the Battlemage, funnily enough) that loses an additional spell per day (giving them wizard spell progression), but gains a good Fort save, some new skills (Climb, Jump, Swim), Extra Slot 1/4 levels, and a modified Arcane Strike ability (at first level you get AS level 1 spells, at level three you get AS level 2, etc).

That's in addition to unstaggering the spell progression and dividing the casting ability between Charisma and Constitution. Yes, the regular Sorcerer is more powerful in my game, so this variant was boosted to be semi-close to the Cleric, physically.

It seems like a fun class to me, but nobody is using it yet.

[EDIT] Well, looks like you're looking for someone who wipes out platoons with lots of fireballs. The Warmage is indeed pretty nice, especially if you're smart in what non-Warmage spells you learn when the opportunity presents itself. Otherwise, I would say that a plain ol' Wizard with scrolls and wands up the wazoo would be a fine versatile artillery platform. Oh yeah, and those silly Sorcerers.

There isn't really alot out there that fits what you want in 'War' magic. The closest is the Warmage 3.5 Core Class in Complete Arcane which gets access to almost all evocation spells and a few extras, but it does lack in improving or weakening combat abilities of other creatures and combat controling. Everything else is a Warrior-mage. The only opinion really is on how you design your character by the type of spells you select.
