| jecht12-09-05, 11:17 PM | has anyone come up with a good melee/arcane spell class? i was thinking something like a fighter with no feats and a little evocation. i dont have the complete arcane so if something like that is in there just tell me. thanks |

| WayneTheGame12-09-05, 11:32 PM | You could always check out the Warmage in Complete Arcane.. can wear light armor (medium later on) and cast all the attack spells (they only get attack spells). Only a d6 HD but mix in a few levels of Fighter, maybe Eldritch Knight as a PrC to get spellcasting ability.. ther's also a feat called Battle Caster that lets you up the type of armor you can wear.. so with a high enough Warmage you can wear heavy armor and cast spells. |
| Tempest Stormwind12-09-05, 11:34 PM | 1) Hexblade's Curse is NOT worth the sorceror's spell list. That would render it completely broken. 2) The closest base classes to the fighter/mage ("gish") archetype are the Hexblade, and the Psychic Warrior. The Druid and Cleric can accomplish this role, but that is because they are overpoweringly strong, not because their flavor fits the merger of magic and martial prowess. (EDIT: Warmage, in Complete Arcane, does come close, though you may need to multiclass a bit for the martial aspect.) If you allow Unearthed Arcana, the Battle Sorceror (http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/classes/variantCharacterClasses.htm#sorcererVari antBattleSorcerer) comes close, and it's Open Game content (and thus in the SRD). 3) Why make a new class when it's perfectly possible with existing material? (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=307309) D&D3.5 has easy multiclassing for a reason. (EDIT: Their discussion of the Psychic Weapon Master is out of date, since the PrC has been updated into a spectacular class, but the rest of the thread is spot-on.) |
| DM_Dracophile12-10-05, 12:50 AM | Makes me wonder if you couldn't retrofit the PsyWar to an Arcane Warrior. Limited Spell List ala the Psy War Powers list, casting along the lines of a Sorcerer...though more limited of course. |
| Elemental_Master12-12-05, 03:55 PM | Thiis is my favorite type of charecter and I would go with the Fighter/ Cleric with the domains of strength and Healing/Protection for ultimate enhancement making you the ultimate fighter since you can boost your stats insanely with high enough levels and the healing domain will make you last forever in battle. |
