| Snapdragyn05-07-05, 04:57 AM | With Search down, I"m turning to the board users for help. In the description of Bear Form for the Bear Warrior PrC in CW, the 2nd sentence states that the Bear Warrior can assume this form as many times per day as they have uses of rage. Later on in the same section, when describing each of the bear forms, it states that the form can be taken 1/day at 1st level, 2/day at 5th level, & 3/day at 10th. Um... which is it? Once per day through 4 levels of the PrC seems like a lot for which to give up the barbarian abilities that could have been gained, but then the PrC is basically a 'gimme' in the requirements (rage, Power Attack, & +7 BAB -- & what barb wouldn't have PA by 7th level anyway?). |
| Pinky's brain05-07-05, 05:50 AM | On the other hand, it is almost impossible to do anything usefull in bear form without a very nice DM (if you have to fight with only claws and bite, and have no way to get decent AC then the PrC is utterly useless). |
| Board_Rider05-07-05, 11:28 AM | After reading it I would surmise that the form can only be taken while Raging. I think that is what was meant. Just not written very well. Basically you get a when you are awarded a new Bear form you get a new use of the Bear form. I don't know if I would call this a waste of a PrC. Granted it is slow coming but by 10th level that +20 to STR is just sick. |

Being "reduced" to using claws is no great problem - after all, you can take the feat Improved Natural Attack if you want, and dealmore damage that way. Also, natural attacks are advantageous for multiple attacks - if you're only making "2 claw attacks" as a natural attack progression ... well, they're both at full BAB, which is a (modest) advantage. As for AC? Natural armor of the bear form itself ... and a necklace/amulet of natural armor (yes, bears can wear necklaces, collars, etc - they DO have necks, after all). Armor with the wild property, perhaps. Ioun Stones. Potions that you drank before going all hairy and clawed (i.e., Mage Armor). If nothing else, some Contingent Spells (though that gets a bit pricey to keep doing, I admit). |
