hello to all

I've been keep up on some thread on illusion, mirror image, beguilers, and such. this has inspired to build a beguiler of my own. My build will focus on using a few personlized tactics that seem to build on each other well, Goad, Fade into violence, Mirror image, and a few other low level illusion spells seem to be all I need.

To start with here are my ideas, tell my what you think of them: critisms, prase, improvements, questions, simular tactics, and suggestion are all welcome. I'd like to tweak any conserns over these tactics before discuse the build

A- Use mirror image to create ungodly miss chances. Mirror image creates illusionary copies of yourself that mimic you, and confuse opponits. They can each be disguarded as a fake with a single, and they can all merge together with you and rescramble on your turn. So you could say that if X = #Copie - 1(for each attack previously made that), then you miss chance is x/x-1, 6/7(86% rounded down) for 7 six copies at the start of the round. asuming you images change apperance as you would. I would say a blurr spell makes it impossable for enemies to remove any given target. alternitively a with blink spell or ring of blink it could take 2 or 3 attacks to eliminate a target from the equation. Blink would be used in combonation with displacement as often as possable for two reasons. Should one see through all my ploys and choose the right target he could diguard me an image should he miss on behalf of displacement incorrectly removing me from the equation, also blink adn displacement together grant a 75% miss chance, using the example of 6 images giving above thats about 94% with mirror image after each scamble.

B- I take the feats Goad and Fade into violence, while the details elude me the feats together essentally alow me to make a bluff check opposed by a sense motive to eighter, provoke targets into attacking me or pursuade them into pursuing other viable treats. Which give me a good deal of control over the battle field. It seems to that sense fade into violence is more presence and demeaner I could use it to remove myself from the mirror image equation causing my enemies to choose incorrectly by default. As I goad them to continue.

C- This final one hasnt been intirely thought through but if I alterself to mimic an allie I could share my images with him, and some benifit from my divertion tactics.

What?

And what's with these boards recently and hammerguns? That's like the third time I've heard that in the last two days.

I dunno, I thought the ungodliness was very much on topic.

I dunno. Beguilers seem about on par with the other (real) arcanists.

For some possibly relevant Beguiler material, check out the link to the Shadowcraft Mage handbook in my sig.

It's the first time that I see a beguiler that actually wants to be attacked.

I like the idea as being original,
but I'm not that enthousiastic about being a character that starts every combat with 3 rounds buffing himself (not to speak of burning 2 feats)...and after that trying to make opponents lose actions.

;) originallity was very much my goal.

And who gets to do what they want without burning a couple feats anyways I would hardly call them a waist. Also spell can be replaced by ring of blink, clock of displacement and wand of mirror images.

Mirror Image

Illusion (Figment)
Level: Brd 2, Sor/Wiz 2 Components: V, S Casting Time: 1 standard action Range: Personal; see text Target: You Duration: 1 min./level (D)

Several illusory duplicates of you pop into being, making it difficult for enemies to know which target to attack. The figments stay near you and disappear when struck.

Mirror image creates 1d4 images plus one image per three caster levels (maximum eight images total). These figments separate from you and remain in a cluster, each within 5 feet of at least one other figment or you. You can move into and through a mirror image. When you and the mirror image separate, observers can’t use vision or hearing to tell which one is you and which the image. The figments may also move through each other. The figments mimic your actions, pretending to cast spells when you cast a spell, drink potions when you drink a potion, levitate when you levitate, and so on.

Enemies attempting to attack you or cast spells at you must select from among indistinguishable targets. Generally, roll randomly to see whether the selected target is real or a figment. Any successful attack against an image destroys it. An image’s AC is 10 + your size modifier + your Dex modifier. Figments seem to react normally to area spells (such as looking like they’re burned or dead after being hit by a fireball).

While moving, you can merge with and split off from figments so that enemies who have learned which image is real are again confounded.

An attacker must be able to see the images to be fooled. If you are invisible or an attacker shuts his or her eyes, the spell has no effect. (Being unable to see carries the same penalties as being blinded.)

ah drat illusions destroyed how did I miss that!!!
