| Skaguy81803-05-06, 01:03 AM | How does one become a chosen cleric? Is it a prestige class? Can it be a chosen of any deity? |
| Skaguy81803-05-06, 01:08 AM | Sorry guys you can ignore this..my question was answered on a previous post, I just didn't see it..thanks though.. |
| Lael03-05-06, 11:08 PM | Can you point me in the direction then :) |
| Beckett03-09-06, 10:35 PM | The Chosen of ______ is a Forgotten Realms template (LA-) There can be as many Chosen of _____ as that deity wants at one time, but usually only one. They tend to give a few spells of your choice as spell like abilities, a +10 Con, and maybe one or two more things. |
| Lael03-12-06, 11:25 PM | Cool I'll have to check it out. Basically I've been looking for something like that and might be the treat. |
| CzarGarrett03-13-06, 09:24 AM | Although, you could consider the Favored Soul, a lesser version of a Chosen. |
| Millennium03-13-06, 11:21 AM | Being a Chosen isn't really a class: it's a template that the deity adds to you, almost like a race. As a result, you get a huge amount of power in one burst, but the Chosen of [whoever] template doesn't have any opportunity for advancement in and of itself. There is no single Chosen template: each deity that chooses to create its own Chosen has its own. I don't know if the templates are ever actually listed anywhere, but if you can find specific entries for given Chosen, you should be able to more or less re-create the template from there. Not all deities choose to create any Chosen at all. Unlike avatars and proxies, Chosen retain complete free will, and many deities are uncomfortable with giving so much of their power to a free-willed mortal. Of those who do, the FRCS mentions three. Mystra has far more Chosen than any other deity: Elminster, the Seven Sisters, and several others. Bane has only one: Fzoul Chembryl. Eilistraee has at least one Chosen, though I forget her name at the moment (she's one of the Seven Sisters, and thus also a Chosen of Mystra). My guess is that you'll find more information in Champions of Ruin, Champions of Valor, and Power of Faerun. |
| Beckett03-13-06, 11:33 PM | To my rememberance, the Chosen of ___ Templates are in Magic of Faerun, Faiths and Panteons, and another book. |
| Lael03-15-06, 10:48 PM | Found the Chosen of Bane in Faiths and Pathions, but it really didn't give any good idea how to apdate that to something else :( |
| Tempest Stormwind03-15-06, 10:55 PM | That's because becoming one is purely plot-oriented, as the template is not designed for player use (hence the lack of an LA and the requirement that a deity bestow the template). It was one of the many tools used to turn the hallmark characters of the Realms into epic-level walking balls of deus ex machina -- DMPCs if I ever saw them. Note: I say this as a person who does not, and likely never will, enjoy the Realms, hence the commentary. The template itself, objectively, requires DM intervention to apply. The original Chosen template is presented in the FRCS -- Chosen of Mystra, describing Elminste. |
