| Dark Stryke11-14-05, 08:26 PM | Hello everyone, I don't post on this particular board very often, but I'm here now (lovely introduction, I know  ). Ahem, anyway, I'm running a campaign based on David Eddings's "The Belgariad" in the not-so-distant future. Now, for those of you unfamiliar with the series, go read it! Now! Trust me on this one. Aside from that, the setting is very low magic, and a few classes need to be made or changed. Now, I've got one of them partway done, and, well, I'm stumped. The class is "the Mimbrate Knight", a knight who is supposed to be the ultimate mounted charger. Why not just use the cavalier prestige class, you ask? Because it's a base class in this world. So there. Well, suggestions are welcome. I've got the class about 70% finished, I should think. Take a peak. The Mimbrate Knight Level......Attk Bonus .....Fort Save......Ref save ......Will save.....Special 1...........+1................+2........ .......+0...............+0............. Valiant Charge +4/+0 Class Features Hit Die: d10 Skill Points at first level: (2 + intelligence modifier) X 4 Skill Points at each additional level: 2 + intelligence modifier Class Skills: Climb(Str), Craft(Int), Handle Animal(Cha), Intimidate(Cha), Knowledge(History, Int), Knowledge(Local, Int), Knowledge(Nobility and Royalty, Int), Listen(Wis), Profession(Wis), Ride(Dex), Search(Int), and Spot(Wis). Weapon and Armor Proficiency: Mimbrate Knights are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as with all armor and all shields (except tower shields). Special Mount: The Mimbrate Knight has a powerful warhorse for a companion. This horse starts out as a typical member of its kind, but advances in power with the mimbrate knight (see below). Valiant Charge: A Mimbrate knight’s training involves such advanced combat maneuvers as the “frontal charge” and the “last stand”. These are not exactly what a rational person would consider sound tactics, but the Mimbrates have mastered them, to a degree. A Mimbrate knight may declare any charge attack he makes as a “valiant charge”. He gains an additional +2 bonus to hit, but takes an additional –2 penalty to AC for the duration of the round. At level five, this additional bonus to attack rolls increases by one, and increases by one again at level 15. Additionally, a Mimbrate Knight’s extra penalty to AC drops by one at level 10, and again at level 20. Valiant Charge may be used while the Mimbrate Knight is mounted. The bonuses and penalties count for the mount, if the mount is the Mimbrate’s Special Mount. Frightful Charge: At level (?), A Mimbrate Knight’s charges inspire terror. If a Mimbrate Knight charges a creature, that creature must make a will save equal to 10 + ½ of the Mimbrate Knight’s class level + the Mimbrate Knight’s charisma modifier, or become shaken for 10 rounds. Creatures shaken this way who are then struck in melee by the Mimbrate Knight become frightened unless they succeed on a second will save against the same DC. Destructive Charge: At level (?) A Mimbrate Knight’s charge attacks become lethal to objects, as well as people. If a Mimbrate Knight charges a creature, he may attempt to sunder any item on the creature’s person instead of attacking. He makes the sunder attempt as if he had the Improved Sunder feat, except the attempt is made at a +8 bonus, instead of a +4 bonus. The Mimbrate Knight's Warhorse This uses the same table as the druid's animal companion. Drop "Share Spells" at first level, and replace it with "speed boost(10)". Then drop multiattack at ninth level and replace it with "speed boost(20)". Then add "Speed Boost(30)" at level 18. Speed boost: A Mimbrate Knight’s warhorse is faster and stronger than any other member of its kind. When it’s master is riding it, it gains a +10 foot enhancement bonus to its speed. This speed bonus increases by 10 when the master reaches 9th level, and again at 18th. Arend* Mimbrate Knight Starting Package Armor: Scale Mail (+4AC, armor check penalty –4, speed20ft, 30lb), Heavy Steel Shield (+2AC, armor check penalty –2, 15lb) Weapons: Longsword (1d8, crit 19-20/X2, 4lb, slashing), Lance (1d8, crit 20/X2, 12lb, piercing), shortbow(1d6, crit20/X2, range inc. 60ft, 2lb, piercing). Skill Selection: Pick a number of skills equal to 2 + intelligence modifier. (table goes here) Feat: Mounted Combat. Gear: Backpack with water skin, one day’s trail rations, bedroll, sack, flint and steel. Hooded lantern, three pints of oil. Quiver with 20 arrows. Any Arendish Epic. Starting Gold: 4d4gp. |
| johnath7212-11-05, 07:29 PM | Wow hey keep me update on this! I've tried to do this before but i made the players the actual characters from the book and made them myself. To be honest the main problem i found was silk, he is a martial arts expert (monk) and an expert spy/thief (obv rogue) but also knew everything about everywhere (bardic knowledge) - how you planning on doing that? |
