Best Class For A Bounty Hunter [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-24-05, 10:40 PM What would the best class be for a bounty hunter? Im thinking maybe Rogue or Assasin, i would like other people's imput though...
i was wondering if anything else would work.

08-24-05, 10:59 PM narrow your range on what you want. what kind of bounty hunter, do you really mean assasin? otherwise assassin would not be a good class. ranger is good, remember that evil rangers can even have their own race as a favored enemy making you good at tracking and bluffing them, ect. ranger would help because it offers track as a bonus feat, which i think you may want if you really want to be a bounty hunter.
plus, there is a prest. class in complete warrior called justicar. they are genuine bounty hunter types, in the literal sense.

08-24-05, 11:01 PM Im thinking like a guy who kills monsters for pay, or maybe humanoids, im thinking he will be neutral, but im wondering what would fit in the catagory, he will hunt anything for pay.

08-24-05, 11:06 PM You want a sword for hire type person. Like the guy said eearlier, ranger is best for that. To be an assassin you must be evil and kill someone (random) just to become an assassin. The justicar is cool if you want to bringin bounties and also the BloodHound is cool if you want to bring in bounties alive, I think a ranger can easily take the BloodHound PrC, but not sure. So if you don't want to be evil then Ranger with a prestige class of Justicar or BloodHound should be a good choice.

08-29-05, 10:22 PM Bounties usually require live targets, which is why "dead or alive" is such a big deal. After all, you can't prosecute someone who's dead.

Other than that, I agree with Ranger. That favored enemy power of theirs applies to basically anything that involves interacting with them. +2 to bluff, listen, sense motive, spot, survival checks to track them, not to mention the familiar +2 to damage. If you want someone tracked down, you hire a ranger.

I think that Bloodhound and Justicar are good choices. Justicar kind of narrows it down to fighting for the forces of good but Bloodhound is an EXCELLENT choice for abounty hunter. In my humble opinion, Bloodhound is probably the most accurate translation to a bounty hunter in D&D, but this was already said above.

which means a lawful evil bounty hunter is very possible.
