| TheraerTheWanderingBard06-05-05, 01:23 PM | what is the best base class for taking the Dread Pirate PrC? aside from the rogue. thanks |
| BlaineTog06-05-05, 01:26 PM | Fight, Barbarian, and Bard all come to mind, perhaps in some kind of unholy multiclassing. |
| TheDarknessWithin06-05-05, 01:28 PM | I would go with a fighter/rogue if you're planning on being a evil dread pirate. Otherwise fighter/bard would work pretty good I think |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard06-05-05, 05:06 PM | thanks... i think ill do fighter/bard, an interesting combo :fight!: :dancin: one more question, were starting third or fifth lvl, which combination of the two should i do? |
| Lana "Silvertongue"06-05-05, 05:50 PM | From the complete books, Swashbuckler/Bard or Swashbuckler/Rogue are also viable |
| TheraerTheWanderingBard06-05-05, 05:53 PM | i dont have the information on the swashbuckler, so ill stick with the fighter/bard |
| HappyDragon06-05-05, 06:16 PM | Fighter/Bard is an excellent way to go for the Dread Pirate. :) As for the combination you want to go with at the level you're starting at, it really depends on the flavour you're trying to achieve more with your character. What's your characters background? Was he some young lad/lass grabbed off the streets by a press gang when their ship needed a couple extra hands to wield swords? Or was he some aristocrats son/daughter that thought those sea shanties their workers sung on the docks were kind of catchy? Or any other number of ways to develop the character which will help dictate how to build it's crunchiness. If you want pure numbers, I'd suggest first 3 levels Bard to get those skills then 2 levels Fighter for the extra feats and HD. Also talking to your DM and finding out what type of campaign is being run will help make your desicions as well. Enjoy :) |
| ninjarabbit06-05-05, 07:09 PM | Warforged druid/ninja, that wya you can have a Transforming robot ninja pirate. |
| Koda7706-05-05, 07:21 PM | Warlock, they can do anything and just kick a$$ |
| thasis06-05-05, 07:24 PM | Go with the Fighter/Bard mix. That tends to work. I'd suggest going 3 Bard/ 2 Fighter. By then you have some spells, some combat abilities, and a nice selection of skills and feats. If you play it properly you could take a level in Dread Pirate as soon as you gain another level. |
| Otto the Bugbear06-06-05, 07:39 PM | as suggested by ninjarabbit Most. Über. Character. Evar. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=376014) There ya go. The title says it all. Cheers Otto :) |
| ninjarabbit06-06-05, 08:47 PM | And if you work some forsakers levels in there you could call yourself Amish too. |
