megrimguy 10-09-06, 05:52 PM	I am fairly new to the game and I was curious to know what class deals the most amount of damage. I am also looking for it to be a fighter that can use pretty decent 2h swords in case I run out of spells. And I want him to get extremely powerful spells at Epic levels, like Wish and what not. Any class like this? I hear the Psychic Warrior, Duskblade, Swordsage, and Hexblade are all good. This character will be starting out at the 8th level being that my old fighter just died. Thanks P.S. I plan on going with a weird Pretige class like Alienist or Cosmic Descryer, anyone ever play these?
elonin 10-09-06, 06:10 PM	You can get fairly big damage from alot of classes. Depends on what else you want. If you want wish you'll either have to play wizzard or sorc. Or better yet just buy an item of wish since it has an experience component. None of the classes you mentioned will get you wish. To my knowledge these will be arcane/ melee hybrids. I'd need to know what you mean by being powerful. Maybe mystic theurge does what you want.
megrimguy 10-09-06, 06:39 PM	I am looking for a guy that can deal the most amount of damage possible pretty much utilizing both magic and melee, and the ability to summon god like spells at epic levels. One of the guys in my party recently got a sword that lowers the health of its target to 0 automatically. He got it from some module we just played. I want to be able to use abilites like a sorcerer, but they have low strength and dex if you're going to put your points into charisma. Or I am thinking of maybe multiclassing with a sorc. Is melee even required to do the most amount of damage possible? Basically what I am looking for is a versatile character.

nastynate 10-10-06, 12:26 AM	There are oodles of options for this. If you are looking for class/prestige class combinations, feats, spells, equipment, and so forth, all in one nifty package you should definately check out the CO boards. I'm kind of partial to the psion 6/ ranger 1/ illithid slayer 8/ sanctified mind 5. This enables you to focus on melee combat and psionic buffs, and nets you a manifester level of 17 (9th level powers), a BAB of +17 (4 attacks per round), great saves, and a bunch of great class abilities. [All can be found in the SRD but the sanctified mind, which is in LoM]. I like to build around the leap attack, shock trooper, and power attack feats with this build (which have wicked synergy with psionic lion's charge). Generally I feel psychometabolism or psychoportation are the best disciplines for a psionic gish built around melee combat, though you can flavor things to taste. This is nothing compared to the theoretical builds (like the Hulking Hurler, Cheater of Mystra, Nasty Gentleman, Lancer, or Pun Pun) which have unfair amounts of uber-power. However the theoretical builds are not healthy for the game (they are excercises in CO theory)...blowing up the world ruins all the DM's work, and the others players fun. -Later-
shinjinbukai 10-10-06, 12:31 AM	Cleric. You get acess to all spells, except the 2 specialized ones. You get to wear Full Plate and not have it mess with spellcasting. You can go into Melee and not die like every other spellcaster. You get acess to some pretty incredible damage dealing spells. It sounds like what you want, but also from what you have stated you want to Best Charactor in the game, now that may sound fun but if you think about it, it is not at all. Pun-Pun, Hulking Hurler etc. are meant to be concepts designed to exploit rules. If you want to be able to play the game and have fun with it, it sounds like cleric is for you. It isnt a OMGTEHPWNZ class, but it is the best class in Phb and it can almost get to the jesus level and still be challenging and fun to play.
prozacman 10-10-06, 04:14 AM	yup. cleric, better at melee than a fighter and w/ 9 levels of spells. Who needs wish when you have miracle? Don't like to suck up to gods all the time? Go with my personal favorite, the druid. again with the awesome spells, but with more blasty potential. Wanna fight well? become a bear and eat your enemies. Outnumbered? summon some elementals to help you and your animal companion mop the floors. again with the miracle. For some extra odd coolness, take first level in monk, put four ranks into knowledge religion and take the feat spontaneous healer. Now you can trade out any spell for either healing or summons. Also you dont have to worry about wild armor, and you get wisdom to AC in all forms. And improved grapple. And all you have to do for all this ***** kickery is revere nature and not wear metal armor. And occaisonally plant some trees and kill some litterers
Caliborn 10-10-06, 07:58 AM	Cleric or Druid if ypu want to keep it simple. With a Cleric you buff yourself to hell and back in order to deal massive amounts of melee damage plus having plenty of spells left for healing, blasting, battle field control, and whatever comes up. With a Druid you summon some elementals, or dinosaurs, or whales, or what-have-you, you've got a huge frikken bear, or elephant, or dinosaur, or something following you around, you then proceed buff yourself and your menagerie before topping it all off by turning into a huge frikken bear, or dinosaur, or elemental. Oh, and 9th level spells, don't forget those. Also, the Nasty Gentlemen is actually playable if you don't go too hog wild with the tentacle whips. In my opinion the best thing about the majority of LoP dirty tricks are that they're actually playable as long as you don't take it to extremes.
megrimguy 10-11-06, 06:25 PM	Would a Cleric be able to have a Spellsword as a prestige class? Or are they based on two diffferent forms of magic being arcane and divine. Whats a good divine class for a Cleric?
