| hellspawn2archangel04-11-07, 03:08 PM | I want to make a the best mounted char. i can I think its best for me to go Paladin be can my dm is running us vs demons and the like. what do you think? |
| Ralvuimego04-11-07, 03:25 PM | I'd probably go Paladin/Ranger then take some levels in Wild Plains Outrider. Take the devoted tracker feat (So you can count your Animal Companion as your Special Mount), archery combat style, evil outsider favored enemy and the mounted archery feats and you've got a pretty awesome fast-moving, arrow-shooting, demon-smiting mechine. Give me a few minutes and I can throw together a list of mounted PrCs you can check out. |
| Ralvuimego04-11-07, 03:48 PM | Alright... All I could find were... The Cavalier (CWAR) The Halfling Outrider (CWAR) Skylord (BoED) The Dragonrider (Draconomicon) Wild Plains Outrider (CADV) |
| ajb4704-11-07, 03:51 PM | From Player's Guide to Forgotten Realms: Shaaryan Hunter is good for mounted archery. If it is allowed, of course. AJ |
| Garonak04-11-07, 04:01 PM | Ashworm Dragoon from Sandstorm is pretty good. |
| ninjarabbit04-11-07, 04:36 PM | A hexblade with an improved familar, so many nice spells to share like polymprph and mirror image. |
| countbubba04-11-07, 04:44 PM | I agree: Cavalier (Comp. Warrior) is what I would go with. Especially if you're going to be a paladin. Great character choice all around. |
| The_Shaman04-11-07, 04:48 PM | Cavalier is good, but for lighter cavalry the wild plains outrider can be good enough. Flying mounts could also be worth it (i.e. Aglarondian Griffonrider, Moonsea Skysentinel, Zhentarim Skymage, Great Rift Skyguard, Knight of the Flying Hunt, etc, etc.) Straight paladins should have little trouble getting a pegasus mount, and rangers can aim for the RoS Dire Eagle. Edit: Of course, improved familiar helps a lot. IIRC the Faerun books consider a griffon an acceptable choice, and mages can definitely find some good spells to share. It works best for characters with a little more HPs, though. |
| JonnySpaz04-12-07, 02:45 AM | Really depends on level and wealth. I support the previous advice, flying mounts are indeed very nice. But the best mounts are the ones that you buy with piles of coin, not the ones you summon. If you are starting at really high levels, buy a Battletitan from monster manual 3, you won't regret it. |
