Why are you interested in multiclassing?

As a general rule, I favor multiclassing for a reason. You have to want to do something or at least do something better, get more skilled, be better at melee, add some casting?

Once you decide what you want to do, finding the best way to do it is childs play.

Multiclassing 4 levels in barbarian is interesting for the feat bonuses and with weapon specialisation you still get a +2 to damage that you lose from mighty rage.

Rogue still builds up your uncanny dodge ability list and gives you a lot of ranks and sneak attack ability but its heavey hit points cost.

If you think that you will play until 20 level tough i think you should just stick to the barb. tireless rage, dam reduction 5 and mighty rage are great things to have.

On the one hand, you could take the evil, overpowered 2-level Fighter Dip, 2Level, 2 Bonus feats.

Or you choose one out of Ranger, Rogue or Bard, The main point here are the skills, but
One favored enemy and Track,
Sneak attack +1d6, or
Inspire Courage +1 and simple Bardic knowledge
are nice, too.

If you have a nice dex, you can take the second rogue level, too, for evasion, or you take a second Ranger Level for the combat style (You are hopefully using a 2-handed weapon, so this would be a nice free Rapid shot, without the need for the crappy point blank shot).

You could also go wild and take Barbarien only as a general idea and add Fighter2 / Ranger2 / Bard1 - Even with Int of only 10, you have 4 or 5 decent skills, only one hit to you BAB (that's why I would not dip both: Bard and Rogue), and a lot of combat tricks. And as long as you can go with that low dips forever, you wont even suffer XP-penalties, since your levels are within 1, except for your favoured class.
However, some DMs might forbit you having a 4 class-multi, or require a very, very good backround story.

your 10th level.. your power is so much lower than any other 10th level fighter its hard to fix now.. but fighter is your only recourse (feats are the key.. since only the fighter can gain anything beyond weapon focus)

If you were building a power character..

You would need
2 lvls in barbarian for uncanny dodge
1 lvl in cleric (domains 1 of which has to be fate) then you can improved uncanny dodge at 3rd level
then for your 4th you would start on fighter.. (and the bonus feats kick in very nicely) its a feat for the next 3 levels easy..

personally, an NPC i'm working on right now, king of his err, people i guess, is a barbarian/fighter with a greatspear.

i think fighter is the way to go if you must go. d10 HD is the best you can do when you multiclass, you don't lose BAB, you get great feats, like weapon spec. as well as a chance to access something like the power attack feat tree and save your other feats for things like extra rage, extended rage and all those types of things.

the only other i can think of is maybe go into scout, more speed is always good, trapfinding, more skill points and skills available synergize (is that a word?) well with the barbarian. if you've got a two handed weapon, spring attack (and the new feats like it in PHBII) with your speed is pretty nifty.

but as mentioned above, level 10 is kinda ahead of the game when you decide you want to start multiclassing.

Personally...if i'd multiclass a Barbarian i'd take a 4 level dip into fighter. Have you checked out various prestige classes available to you? There are a couple of decent PrC's open for Barbarian.

Frost Rager
Primeval
Bear Warrior
Frenzied Beserker

Just to name a couple...

If you have access to the the Complete Warrior, you might wanna take a look at the Frenzied Berserker PrC. :D

Or, if you want to spare your party members from a fatal killing frenzy, dont.
The frostrager is a prestige class focused on using frosted fists as weapons instead of normal weapons. [Frostburn]
Primevals are barbarians who can change partially into an animal, becoming better in dealing damage in the process. [Frostburn]

This is the most logical multiclass progression for you if you want to be the ULTIMATE POWER IN THE UNIVERSE:

1. Take 1 level of sorcerer (for magic twists)
2. Take 3 levels of monk (for magic fists)
3. Take 2 levels of druid (for magic trees)
4. Take 4 levels of druid animal companion (for magic fleas)
5. Take 7 levels of ranger (for magic grass)
5. Take all 10 levels of the buttmunch master PrC (for magic ass)

Congratulations! You are now unstoppable!

The Barbarian in my game multiclassed with a psion. This only works if you have a somewhat decent intelligence. But if you have the metapsionic powers (the powers that enhance the body), then you have a self buffing Barbarian. This takes a hit on your BAB and HP, but if you only take a few levels of it then it dosen't hurt too bad and the benefits far outway the negatives.

Depends on your stats and character concept.

If the 4 feats you've gotten so far just aren't doing it for you, levels of fighter couldn't hurt. Have you been maxing out Survival but still haven't picked up Track? Dip Ranger (the Ranger's combat style is unlikely to apeal, as it doesn't synergize well with your high rage-fueled STR, but if for some reason you do want it, go for it; and Endurance isn't a complete waste, and is a preq for other feats, as well, including if you have the PHII one that can really boost your WILL saves). Combine the two: 2 levels of Fighter & 3 of ranger = no exp penalty and 5 feats in 5 levels. Could be fun.

Or, if you like to get a lot of use out of your Fast Movement, and don't mind the BAB hit, Scout will also get you Track.

I find that 1/2orcs make surprisingly good Rogues, including Barb/Rogues. I've gone for a lot more Rogue than Barb but the reverse could concieveably work, too. Up to 4 levels if you want to minimize the loss of BAB.

I'd keep going in Barbarian. I don't think you'll find anything that will complement your abilities as well as another 10 levels spent advancing them.
