I want to know which save everyone views as most important, and why.

Personally, I think I'd have to choose Will. It lets you ignore illusions, and I hate when an enemy takes control of my character.

Will, followed by Fort, followed by Ref.

It seems that a lot of random effects that don't really fit any ability are stuck with Will. A prime example of this is MDJ. Also, while forts are save or dies at high levels, there are many low level will spells that are essentially save or die.

I say will,

I never ever had to do a reflex save in the 2 years I play as a PC...

Fort saves IMO. Most spells that deal ability damage or cause death effects are linked to your fort save.

Fort, Will, Ref.

I agree with Radijs, although will is a close second. Usually will saves determine whether your character is panicked against a fear effect, which by itself isn't that bad, but it means that the party has to fight without you. When you're in a four person party, and 25% of your power just ran into a corner to cower, you're in trouble.

Lastly, if you fail a reflex save, you take damage. Yeah, it can kill you but there are ways to deal with hp loss.

Its a tough call between Fort and Will. The more magic, the more Id say Will.

With less magic, there are a lot fewer Will saves to be made, and typically Reflex is just damage. Fort saves are from things like poison. Much worse worst-case scenario.

Fortitude.

'Cause I hate getting desintigrated. Happened to four different characters I played in the SAME SESSION. Stupid beholders.

Fortitude. Fail that and you are dead.

Will saves just incapacitate you, and while domination is bad, the remedy is simple (prot evil, available in potion or scroll form - every party member should have it)

Reflex save is important if you have low hp, relatively unimportant if you have high hp. Mostly reflex save reduces incoming damage.

So in that order, because of the impact on combat and difficulty to remedy.

Death takes away your combat actions. Death is expensive to remedy. Fort wins hands down.

will saves take away combat actions, but are usually cheap to remedy and often can be remedied in combat, in time for you to contribute.

Reflex saves don't normally take away combat actions and hitpoint damage is the cheapest of all to remedy. It normally only matters if you are being bombarded with massed area spells, and there are quite a few counters to those if you are prepared, plus if you aren't killed outright, you can take your own actions to save yourself, others don't have to save you.

Of course a lot of it varies on the type of campaign you're playing. I would say that in a D20 modern/future campaign we did for a while it is ref/fort/will in that order. This is because while there are no spells (unless you play with them - we didn't) there are few will saves - but tons of reflex with grenades, rockets etc., and HP comes back a lot slower without healing.
