| gunwalker12-04-07, 12:07 PM | Which two core/prestige classes would work great as a team. They have to be evil and mundane, tho. Thanks in advance. |
| InkBlot12-04-07, 01:14 PM | A crusader and a rogue. The crusader uses Devoted Spirit and White Raven maneuvers to provide mundane healing to himself and the rogue, draw enemy attention away from the squishy rogue, give the rogue bonuses and extra actions. He can't do all of this every round, but he can always help the rogue in some way. Crusaders are also tough enough to stand in flanking position even if it means becoming a bipedal punching bag. The rogue does everything the crusader can't, including bringing on the pain. Two weapon fighting sneak attack removes some very neccesary organs from the enemies. Skills are bountiful enough to be the front man, and find traps, and tumble, and activate magic items for misc. utility uses. Both entirely mundane and evil. |
| Apupunchau12-04-07, 04:56 PM | Don't the two nightsong classes in ComAdv specifically have abilities that enhance or are enhanced by team work. |
| Jaxgaret12-04-07, 05:10 PM | They have to be mundane, tho. What do you mean by that, exactly? What is 'mundane'? No spellcasting? |
| bkdubs12312-04-07, 05:21 PM | The Nightsong Classes would be an incredible team. |
| PoorHobo12-04-07, 05:30 PM | A crusader and a rogue. Crusader isn't exactly core. |
| InkBlot12-04-07, 06:40 PM | I assumed by "core class" gunwalker meant "basic 20 level non-prestige class." A lot of people use the term that way. I'm sorry if I assumed wrong. Of the classes in the PHB, the ones who are completely mundane are also the ones that don't play well together. Fighter and rogue would be my PHB pick. The fighter can generate opportunities for the rogue with lockdown techniques (tripping, grappling, etc). |
| Cartigan12-04-07, 07:05 PM | Crusader isn't exactly core. ToB isn't particularly fair but it pops up in every thread that involves a question about classes. |
| archerpwr12-04-07, 07:24 PM | ToB isn't particularly fair but it pops up in every thread that involves a question about classes. Really? Aside from exactly two maneuvers, it's incredibly hard to break anything using ToB. |
| PoorHobo12-04-07, 08:27 PM | I assumed by "core class" gunwalker meant "basic 20 level non-prestige class." A lot of people use the term that way. I'm sorry if I assumed wrong. I am coming back to the forums, I've been away since gleemax started. So who knows I might be wrong but I've always though Base = full 20 level class, Core = PHB, MM, DMG (and sometimes EPH) ToB isn't particularly fair but it pops up in every thread that involves a question about classes. What's not fair about it? That sentence doesn't sound right. Fair as in what? ToB gets a lot more facetime in class suggestion threads then they should. I dunno why but its a pet peeve when this happens: Player1 "I want to play a melee guy in a core only game, any help? Poster "Play a warblade, fighter sucks" Player "kay I asked my DM and he said no, core only" Poster "kill your gm or walk away. Buy ToB and hit him with it..." |
| Jaxgaret12-04-07, 11:24 PM | Player1 "I want to play a melee guy in a core only game, any help? Poster "Play a warblade, fighter sucks" Player "kay I asked my DM and he said no, core only" Poster "kill your gm or walk away. Buy ToB and hit him with it..." Post a link to a conversation that ever resembled what you just posted. I bet you that either a) the person who posted it is a complete moron and you should ignore them anyway or b) you are grossly overexaggerating. Reasonable posters will not post what you just wrote. Don't make up perceived attacks where there are none, that's just paranoia. |
| Enigmis12-04-07, 11:29 PM | ToB gets a lot more facetime in class suggestion threads then they should. I dunno why but its a pet peeve when this happens: They have more face time because they let players play a melee character who can do things other than trip/auto-attack/charge. There not necessarily more powerful, just more fun. If you want power then go druid. |
| PoorHobo12-04-07, 11:32 PM | I said its a pet peeve when it happens, not that it always does or did in this case. Don't make up perceived attacks where there are none, that's just paranoia. Take your own advice. |
| Jaxgaret12-04-07, 11:34 PM | I said its a pet peeve when it happens, not that it always does or did in this case. Honestly, when has it ever happened? Take your own advice. I do. Was my tone offensive to you? I didn't take your post as anything even remotely resembling a personal attack on me. I was just trying to help you to see the error of your ways. |
| Enigmis12-04-07, 11:34 PM | I said its a pet peeve when it happens, not that it always does or did in this case. Take your own advice. Its also a pet pieve of mine when bears come flying in on airplanes shooting out confetti... It doesnt mean this happens or that i should be telling anyone about it. |
| CrimsonDeath12-04-07, 11:39 PM | The rogue does everything the crusader can't, including bringing on the pain. Between Devoted Spirit and Stone Dragon, a Crusader can bring down some respectable pain. I am coming back to the forums, I've been away since gleemax started. So who knows I might be wrong but I've always though Base = full 20 level class, Core = PHB, MM, DMG (and sometimes EPH) But the OP said "core/prestiege classes". Since there are a dozen or so prestiege classes in Core, the two sets ("core classes" and "prestiege classes") are not disjoint. So the OP was probably referring to "base and prestiege classes". |
| PoorHobo12-04-07, 11:39 PM | Its also a pet pieve of mine when bears come flying in on airplanes shooting out confetti... It doesnt mean this happens or that i should be telling anyone about it. So you're saying that a comment about the the Bo9s classes does not belong on the forum titled Classes and Prestige classes? Or you can make a comment about bears and confetti, thats totally related to what the forum is about. |
| PoorHobo12-04-07, 11:53 PM | Honestly, when has it ever happened? Yes, especially after the Bo9S came out. I haven't seen it since I came back to the gleemax side of the house a few days ago. But the fact that I'm taking flak for such an minor remark lets me know that there are plenty of people that still think like that. If it really weren't a big deal it wouldn't have gotten the 3-4 replies that it did. We both agree that its a ludicrous thing for someone to post then why are some people jumping in to say how much fun ToB classes are, that bears and planes are relevant and that I'm paranoid? I do. Was my tone offensive to you? I didn't take your post as anything even remotely resembling a personal attack on me. I was just trying to help you to see the error of your ways. I thought so. I used fake dialog to illustrate something that was a bit of a pet peeve and you jumped in calling me paranoid and said I was over exagerating. If that was not your intent then I appreciate you making that clear |
| Jaxgaret12-05-07, 12:08 AM | Yes, especially after the Bo9S came out. I haven't seen it since I came back to the gleemax side of the house a few days ago. Well, I've never seen a poster who wasn't an asshat post anything even remotely like that. One can promote Bo9S and not be a dipshit about it, you know. I thought so. I used fake dialog to illustrate something that was a bit of a pet peeve and you jumped in calling me paranoid and said I was over exagerating. If that was not your intent then I appreciate you making that clear. I have no control over what other people post. Please don't attach anything anyone else has said to what I have said; take my words as my own and theirs as theirs. The reason why I gave you "flak" is because you created a conversation that just plain doesn't happen, outside of a couple of morons who should be ignored, and intimated that it is a regular staple of the forums. You didn't claim it as fake dialog before. It seemed as if you thought of it as a routine response in threads here, when it really is not. |
| Killer_Rabbit12-05-07, 03:20 AM | Hmm... sorta going off the subject guys. |
