| FalaxXI05-11-07, 12:20 AM | I was thinking of making a funny sort of character that basicly just takes it in the face and keeps on going, like a juggernaut or something I know someone made a juggernaut class on the forums but a for a Gnome I don't see how effective it could be so any suggestions on a design for a Gnome Meat shield? Doesn't have to do alot of damage just Intimidate etc... and take a heap load of damage, me and my friends need 1 badly for our current campaign and we just got a new guy interested in joining he said he would love to be a tank of some sort. |
| Terazul05-11-07, 12:23 AM | If you happen to have a copy of Tome of Battle, I say Crusader is the way to go. If there's one thing it does, it's soak it up like nobody's business. Plus it has other things you can do as well, of course. |
| Tempest Stormwind05-11-07, 12:24 AM | Two solutions. 1) Crusader, Tome of Battle. This is *the* penultimate traditional tank. It does its job nigh-perfectly and is a blast to play to boot. 2) You could try a Killer Gnome. This is more of an approach than a class -- you don't get hit at all, and any attack aimed toward you results in a rebuttal attack if you know what you're doing, while tying up other opponents to boot. It does a bit more than that, though -- I'd suggest reading about it, at Thread 1 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=633443) and Thread 2 (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=793912). |
| FalaxXI05-11-07, 12:29 AM | Thanks, I'll look into the Crusader, I was just planning to go buy some new books for tommarow nights campaign, again thanks alot and of course looking forward to anyone else's opinions. |
| Jaxgaret05-11-07, 01:00 AM | I'll agree with the Crusader idea. I'm playing a Marshal/Fighter/Crusader in one of my campaigns; it really takes a licking and just grins and bears it. I'm loving playing it. |
| TheSacredSquirrel05-11-07, 12:07 PM | that depends on your definition of a tank, do you want to take tons of damage and keep going or never feel any pain but still be a massive pain. i recommend being a permanently reduced blade bravo and use confound the big folk (rotw) and giantbane (cw) you will not be hit, you will do decent damage, and you will have lots of fun options at your disposal. |

Congratulations, I mentioned that one in my above post, except with links into how to actually do it. |
| Mookie3705-11-07, 02:55 PM | It might not actually fit the term "tank", but I think that gnome Swordsage with focus on Setting Sun would be pretty damn fun and would get you the feel of being untouchable by "the big folk". |
