| AnvilofCrom04-03-06, 05:03 PM | I am starting a new campaign and I am playing a wizard for the first time and I am wondering what the better PC is for my Wiz. Archmage or Mage of the Arcane Order. |
| Puca04-03-06, 05:08 PM | You can quite easily do both. Youll be able to qualify for MoAO by sixth level, I think, and Archmage is out of reach until you are at least 13th. Even the description of MoAO describes many of the ranking members as also being archmages. (Or that might be the text on the Arcane Order itself, rather than the PrC.) |

| Osiris Memnoch04-03-06, 07:49 PM | The progression in the previous post is a good one. I'd probably take some different feats at different points though. OH! and unless you want your character to be a homosexual, I recomend playing a race other than elf. |
| NineInchNall04-03-06, 07:56 PM | Well, I didn't say it was optimal. :P I just put in a bunch of feats because I didn't feel like typing "Open feat slot" seven times. :) And I chose elf to make it clear that the human bonus feat was unnecessary for meeting the prereqs. |
| General_Ridley04-03-06, 08:44 PM | and because gray elves get that sexy Int bonus. |
| ninjarabbit04-03-06, 09:50 PM | If I had to pick one I'd chose MotAO. Spellpool is a very nice ability, the extra metamagic feats are nice too, and you can qualify for it by level 5 whereas you have to wait until at least level 13 for the archmage and the loss of spell slots really hurts a wizard, especially if you're not a specialist. |
