I know this has probably been asked before but what type of bonus are the strength and con mods from a Barbaric Rage??

Also what, if any, are some good prestige classes for barbarians,

and finally, what are good feat choices for barbarians.

I am looking for some good ideas for a barbarian character.

If you can supply a good build please do.

34 Points, preferably a dwarf. 10th level. 49k treasure.

thanks

Barbarian rage is a natural bonus and will stack with any bonus other than the spell that causes the rage effect.

I'd go with Taldra's answer on the type of bonus. Sounds right.

As far as character concept and feat choices, I'd stick to the simple stuff. To me, the primary role of the Barb is to hit hard and then hit hard again. Anything that will improve your damage or likelyhood of hitting is the way to go. I'd start by picking a high damage, one-handed weapon. I believe that Dwarves get the Dwarven Waraxe Prof for free in 3.5 (which allows you to use it in one hand), so this is a good choice. As a 10th level Barbarian, you'll have 4 feats to spend. I'd choose from the following:

1. Power Attack: Can't go wrong here. As a 10th level fighter, you have a pretty high base attack and I assume your Strength will be at least 16. You can afford to take off 5 or 6 from your to-hit to add to damage in almost all circumstances.

2. Cleave: You are probably going to be the center of melee for your group, which means you are going to be facing multiple enemies at once on a regular basis. Getting an extra attack when you drop an enemy is a good thing for you.

3. Weapon Focus: Since you are going to be using Power Attack a lot, anything that will counter those minuses to hit will be helpful.

4a. Improved Critical: Increasing your odds of getting a critical with your Dwarven Waraxe from 1 in 20 to 1 in 10 will be noticable with the amount of combat you probably will see.

4b. Improved Initiative: Going last in battle is never fun. Going last +4 helps! :D

That's how I'd probably make my character. Spend your few skill points on Wilderness Lore and Inituit Direction first (unless you have a ranger in the party). Climb, Ride Animal, Listen, and Spot should be used for the rest of your skill points (but season to taste!). I considered the feats: two-weapon fighting and ambidextrous; however, when you rage, your going to lose a fair amount of AC. Also, to have the high movement rate of a barbarian, you must wear light armor. Therefore, I'd rather have a shield in my other hand so that I can keep a respectable AC. Remember, your primary role in the party will keep you in melee combat. Of course, if your idea of a good defense is to have a good offense, then feel free to go with the two-weapon style. Just be sure to drop the other guy before he hits you.

I hope that helps.
