Anyone played one?

What are they like to play... things you liked, things you didn't like... strengths, weaknesses....

They are so different than any other class out there IMO that they don't really have similarities to anything else I've seen.. I'm pondering playing one for a game starting up this weekend so I'd like to hear hear from those who've played them or seen them in action.

What roles do they fill best, etc?

Thanks in advance! :D

The binder is sort of complicated. They are sort of a a fighter who is augmented by magical energies, sort of a troubleshooter, and sort of a backup for everyone. Binders biggest strength is that they can build themselves to either cover many bases or have a really strong synergy rig. The weakness is that they choose incorrectly or roll badly and it can create many many issues, usually not fatal ones but they can be annoying nontheless.

Binders can work well as a fighter sort, and they're an excellent fifth wheel character who can do a bit of healing, a bit of magic, and combat. They're not good skill-monkeys, but most other rolls they can take a passable shot at eventually.

Having played one at low levels, I can say they're a lot of fun, and the ability to change your powers every day is enjoyable. It gets much more interesting at high levels when binding multiple vestiges allows for some interesting synergies or role choices.

I love playing these guys. I found that getting the feat Ignore Special Requirements not only helped avoid some things I found annoying, it also allowed me to bind vestiges not normally able to be bound together.

Some things to keep in mind. All of the binders abilities from vestiges are supernatural. No attacks of oppertunity unless other stated, no spell resistance, no concentration checks for being hit. You can adjust yourself everyday to meet new challenges. There are some awesome guides that I can direct you to, if you would like.

I enjoyed playing every bit of it. It is best to really role-play it as much as you can. Otherwise, it loses some of its charm. I would agree with those before me. It really is a magical fighter. However, their magic is quite flexible.
