03-18-05, 07:14 AM I was wondering how Swordskills would translate into D&D. I haven't been playing relatively long so this seems to be a somewhat daunting task. At first I was going to try a hit and miss approach with the Unearthed Arcanum to help me, but then it hit me, "ask people who know". I have been lurking for a tad and figured this would be a fine first post.

I wanted to try and get all types of Swordskills translated, but I wanted to start with th Holy Swordsman first and formost.

And the the abilities of Soldier, Paladin, Warrior, etc.

Well the Soldier ones (Mind break, Powerbreak) work by doing no damage but weakening some aspect of a character, so it would work in a similar fashion to some of the non-core stunning fist feats. They typically require a hit and a saving throw to bestow penalties.

The ones like the Paladin uses (Parley, Drop Weapon, Nurse, Holy Sword) are odder. FFT works on a per battle basis for magic, so use per day effects would be best for ones like Holy Sword or Nurse. Others like Parley are effectively applications of skills and Drop Weapon is already done.

If you want to look at the Fighter abilities like Farfist and Wildswing, then you've already got good examples, just translate them as special attacks that can be taken as feats.

The Search function is't working but when it does, search for Orlandu (in posts). A dude made all the cool classes (holy, dark and divine knight) a while ago..
