Blackguard As A Core Class [Archive] - Wizards Community

05-22-07, 12:10 PM Hey all - I looked through a bunch of the pages here and could find nothing where someone else might have already made the blackguard into a core class - I did find a great paladin rebuild and I hope I can get the doc from the author - but I was really wondering if any of you know if there is already a blackguard thread somewhere where the PrC was basically converted into a core class.

I have a version I was thinking of using - it is basically a mix of the paladin and the blackguard PrC with some tweaking - but I would love to see what others may have done.

05-22-07, 12:16 PM Dragon magazines did articals for pallies of diffrent alignments. One of the articals was for evil pallies and there were three types, one for each CE, NE, and LE. The LE one is a good evil paladin baseclass. I think you coul find them in the dragon compendium. I don't recall what number magazine they were from though.

05-22-07, 12:21 PM Go to Cristal Keep.com and go to Base classes, there they have a bunch of different paladins, including the Paladin of Slaughter and of Tyranny, both are evil bastards, and both are quite fun...

I have like 8 years worth of Dragon mags - but do not recall the issue they did the paladin stuff in, so if someone can remember, that will save me hella time digging through them.

As for the variant papadins in the UA - I was not all that excited about them, which was the reason for me going and making my own alternate version of the "anti-paladin" type character.

Thanks again - and if anyone else has soem info - I would appreciate it :D

05-22-07, 12:55 PM Well...if you don't like the 'Paladin of Tyranny' from Unearthed Arcana, how about looking at core classes from other systems? There's an alignment-based class in Magic of Incarnum that can go good/bad (Soulborn?). Also see the Crusader from Tome of Battle, and the Divine Mind from Complete Psionic.

All good ideas - but I do not have the Incarnum nor Tome - I do have the Complete Psionics and will take a look at that.

There is a rebalanced paladin (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=761045)that was done by OneWinges4ngel that I was thinking of using and altering to make into another version of a blackguard core class - heck - I should post the one that I have so you all can see what I did and maybe make some comments and such!
