| Kaladon777907-03-06, 08:24 AM | Alright I want to check with other players if I'm seeing this rule correct, about Lay on Hands for a Fallen Paladin Effective Character level 16 5 in fighter 11 in paladin Charisma Score 18 Lay on hands can heal up to 44 damage a day, Paladin level X Charisma Bonus Now here's the problem. Effective Character level 16, Fallen Paladin subing 8 levels of Paladin for blackguard so the blackguard can retain Lay on hands 5 in fighter 3 in paladin 8 in Blackguard Charisma Score 18 Lay on Hands reads charisma bonus times your character level which in this case would be 4 X 16 which equals 64. Is there a miss print somewhere? Am I not reading that correct? Becouse a Blackguard can Lay on hands for more then a Paladin can, i find that odd. |

However, I can see two reasonable methods of handling this. 1. Leave it as is. Part of the temptation of becoming a blackguard is the easy power of it all. "Look," says the demon, "better LoH for you if you turn to the dark side." Or something along these lines. 2. House rule it down to only include effective levels of classes that give you LoH. Easy as pie. Cheers Otto :) |
| runestar07-03-06, 10:14 AM | 3–4: Lay on hands. Once per day, the blackguard can use this supernatural ability to cure himself or his fiendish servant of damage equal to his Charisma bonus x his level. The question here is whether "Level" refers to your total character lv, or just the number of blackguard lvs you have. I would be inclined to say that it is dependent solely on blackguard lvs, or at most, the sum of fallen paladin and blackguard lvs. |
| Otto the Bugbear07-03-06, 09:36 PM | runestar is correct. The OP misquoted the entry, and I didn't double check. The OP said "character level", which means character level. The PrC says "level", which always means class level. This may even be clarified in the FAQ. Cheers Otto :) |

Cheers Otto :) If you look at the prestige class, you'll see that near the lay on hands ability it talks about another ability.....here it clearly states "the blackguards level". Why then for lay on hands does it just say level? I'm willing to bet that what they intended was to have it be based on ex-paladin level and blackguard level and they never really factored in if someone would have had other class levels besides the two. |
