BLADE OF THE SELDARINE While humans, dwarves and sometimes halflings count paladins as the champions of their gods and their ways of life, there are few, if any, of the Tel'Quessir who hear that call (and most of them are elves raised in human environments). This does not mean the Seldarine do not have special champions in their service. On the contrary, these holy warriors, known as Blades of the Seldarine (or Vael Seldarine) have long been honored in elven stories and songs. Most Blades of the Seldarine are some combination of fighter and cleric or druid, but a few rangers also take up the calling, as do some of the incredibly rare elven paladins. Arcane spellcasters and rogues who desire to serve the Seldarine tend to follow other paths. Hit Die: d8 Requirements To qualify to become an Blade of the Seldarine, a character must fulfill all the following criteria. Race: Elf Base Attack Bonus: +7 Feat: Weapon Focus (deity's chosen weapon) Spells: Ability to cast 2nd-level divine spells. Special: A Blade of the Seldarine must have one of the Seldarine as his patron deity. Class Skills The Blade of the Seldarine's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Diplomacy (Cha), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (history) (Int), Knowledge (nature) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Knowledge (the planes) (Int), Profession (Wis), Sense Motive (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int). Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier Class Features All of the following are class features of the Blade of the Seldarine prestige class. Weapon and Armor Proficiency Blades of the Seldarine are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, as well as the favored weapon of their deity (if it is not a simple or martial weapon), with all types of armor (heavy, medium, and light), and with shields (except tower shields). Spells per Day When a new Blade of the Seldarine level is gained, the character gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in whatever arcane spellcasting class she belonged to before she added the prestige class. She does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained. This essentially means that she adds the level of Blade of the Seldarine to the level of whatever other arcane spellcasting class the character has, then determines spells per day and caster level accordingly. If a character had more than one divine spellcasting class before she became an Blade of the Seldarine, she must decide to which class she adds each level of Blade of the Seldarine for the purpose of determining spells per day. Divine Blessing 1st level Blades of the Seldarine receive special gifts from the gods in order to better carry out their will. A Blade of the Seldarine may choose to gain a +2 bonus to Will saving throws or a +2 bonus on saving throws against enchantment spells or effects (stacking with the elven racial save bonus). Smite Evil At 1st level, a Blade of the Seldarine becomes able to smite evil (as the paladin ability) 1/day. If she is already able to smite evil, the character gains one extra use per day. At 5th, 10th, 15th and 20th level, a Blade of the Seldarine may smite evil one additional time per day, to a maximum of 5 times a day. Greater Divine Blessing A 4th level Blade of the Seldarine gains another divine boon from the Seldarine. She may choose one of two gifts, either a +2 bonus on saving throws against necromancy spells or effects, or the Weapon Specialization feat (with the deity's favored weapon as the chosen weapon). Bane of Fiends On reaching 7th level, a Blade of the Seldarine gains supernatural insight into the sinister nature of fiends and their weaknesses. Any weapon wielded by a 7th or higher level Blade of the Seldarine against an evil outsider has its critical hit range extended by 2. Transformation 10th level Blades of the Seldarine become so attuned to the Seldarine and Arvandor that they transform from ordinary elves into something even more glorious. They become native outsiders and gain Darkvision out to 60 ft. They also take on some minor physical trait connected to their patron deity (such as a change in hair, eye or skin color to match that most associated with their deity). How the heck do you do that cool HTML table thing that would let the level chart look coherent? As is, BAB goes 0, 1, 2, 3, 3, 4, 5, 6/1, 6/1, 7/2. Fort and Will saves are 2, 3, 3, 4, 4, 5, 5, 6, 6, 7 and Ref is 0, 0, 1, 1, 1, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3. Epic Blade of the Seldarine Hit Die: d8 Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier Spells The Blade of the Seldarine’s caster level is equal to his or her class level. The Blade of the Seldarine’s number of spells per day does not increase after 10th level. Planar Turning 12th level Blades of the Seldarine gain the planar turning feat for free even if they do not meet the prerequisites. Enchantment Immunity Upon reaching 16th level, a Blade of the Seldarine gains immunity to all enchantment spells or effects. Fiendslayer A 19th level Blade of the Seldarine is a peerless hunter of fiends. Whenever she scores a critical hit against a fiend, the target must make a Fortitude save (DC 10 + ˝ character level + character Strength modifier) or die instantly. Ascension Those Blades of the Seldarine who reach 20th level are reborn as celestial servants of Arvandor. They gain the angel subtype and all the traits associated with it. Level Special 11 - 12 - 13 Planar turning 14 Bonus feat 15 Smite evil 4/day 16 Enchantment immunity 17 - 18 Bonus feat 19 Fiendslayer 20 Ascension, smite evil 5/day Bonus Feat The epic Blade of the Seldarine gains a bonus feat (selected from the list of epic Blade of the Seldarine feats) every 4 levels after 10th.
