10-08-07, 01:16 AM is it any good? if so does anyone have ideas on a good way to get the requirements quickly and end up with a decent bladesinger?

Obviously this will not give you much spellcasting ability, but you get Int. to both damage and armor class. If you focus on buffing spell it should work out very well.

10-08-07, 04:35 AM I played a Wizard 8/Fighter 1/Abjurant Champion 5/Bladesinger 7 once in an Epic Campaign. It had all the spellcasting I needed with some cool extras thrown on top, although the Bladesinger is kind of a piece of junk compared to other fighter/wizard fusion PrCs. I just liked the flavor and a couple of the abilities so I went with it. Meh, I guess I wasn't actually terrible come to think of it. Light Armor with no penalty, 17 BAB, 17 Caster level, +7 from int to AC and all the nifty AbChamp stuff at 21st level. I could mix it up melee if I had to I suppose (I think I had around 55 AC with Shield up. not too shabby).

swashbuckler = duellest correct? aren't most of his bonuses negated even in light armour?

i'm liking the flavor of the wiz/abjurant champion tho. thanks everyone for your input!

10-08-07, 02:33 PM no swashbuckler does not equal duelist. swashbuckler, man, its a base class from the very same book Bladesinger is in! it wears light armor and does other nifty stuff, but I like my rewrite better (kinda self-explanatory right, or why would I have even bothered to do the rewrite). You'd be better off with the build I proposed.

Although fitting 3 levels of Swashbuckler would give you a ton more melee potency, you'll have the spellpower to back that up with 8 levels of Wizard (before prestiging of course).

10-08-07, 03:37 PM I once figured the fastest and most thematic way into the class would be Fighter2-3/Bard4-3 because of the BAB and many skills AND feats required. This was also back when the Bladesinger gained its own casting progression which could be use to supplement the Bard casting.

Going with the Complete Warrior version of Bladesinger I'd probably follow that Swashbuckler3/Ftr2/Wiz1 entry and plan on adding levels of Abjurant Champion to supplement the abilities. The build depends on many different stats which may make it inefficient but in 20 levels would look something like this:
Swash3/Ftr2/Wiz1/BS9/AbC5
BAB +19, HD=10d10+1d4+9d8, CL 19 (AbC) as 11th level wizard, you'd get INT to damage and AC, and other abilities.

Not much of a spellcaster but you should be able to cast those spells quickly (Song of celerity and Swift Abjuration) and with good effect while maintaining a high BAB and good HP.

Why? It has pretty much the same fluff as BS.

What level are you looking for?

Just off the top of my head:

Rogue 5 (Rogue 2/Swashbuckler 3)/Assassin 5

Swashbuckler 3/Wizard 1/Elf Paragon 2

10-09-07, 12:13 AM thanks bkdubs for setting me on the right track, please dont mind my ignorance, i'm pretty new to all this. i only have the core books for anytime access, and in the DMG it lists an alternative name for duelest as a swashbuckler, so i falsely assumed the two were the same. but i'll have to take a better look at your suggestion. i'll check your rewrite too

but i realize that many ppl would say bs and bard have similar "fluff" and they might be right. but i have bardophobia: the irrational fear of playing as a bard under any circumstance. like i said, it's irrational, but unavoidable to me. maybe i just dont like harps and lyres

You could always just use singing or dancing to cast your bardic spells/music. This would allow you to wear weapons at the same time and avoid unnecessary weapon/instrument witching.
