Bleach characters as D&D characters? [Archive] - Wizards Community

Has anybody turned characters from the anime Bleach into characters using the D&D rules, like what was done with psionics and Naruto characters? I'm thinking the shinigami should have levels of Kensai, and probably wield intelligent items, at least for the stronger ones.

Theres is a shinigami class around here, which hopefully is getting revamped. As far character builds, I think it'd be less worrying about there class and more about ther weapons. And even though they are all sentient, only two (up to what i've seen) have actually manifested themselfs as which.

In all honesty, consider using ToB. The weapons can be statted as legacy, intelligent, or with a la Kensai-ish feature.

I will take this opportunity to warn you. There are those on the boards who hate anime. There are those on the boards who like anime, but not with their D&D. If you are unlucky, they will find this thread, and they will show you that flames and trolls can indeed co-exist.

Now, back on topic, Tome of Battle would probably be your best bet, as the poster above me said. YOu could even create some of your own maneuvers if you wanted, although most of the characters are Epic levels at least.

The biggest problem I would say is Orihime and Chad. They don't really seem to fit into any normal class, so if you're feeling creative, you could come up with some sort of "Godhand" or "Feygaurded" class (names off the top of my head).

THe Bound or Bounto are probably closest replicated as vampires taking levels in Puppeteer, in my sig there.

THe Arrancar and Vizard, well, probably some more creativity is needed. Although I do think that a class based on them, but not purely, would be a lot of fun. I had thoughts for a similar class after watching Jekyll and Hyde. Something like "So the good and evil take turns, and hate each other. But what if they learned to work together, for a common goal?" Unfortunately I don't have the skills to actually make something balanced.

I made a Qunicy class thats roughly balanced with regular DnD (Unplaytested, no garuntees)

Swordsages with some kind of intelligent item or somesuch probably serve okay as for shinigami, and someone made a class...but I don't really like it.

Vizards and Arrancar are probably Epic PrCs (Though Vizard is probably only a 3-5 level one)

Try using the Soul Bow from the Complete Psionic.

I once made a character called Zaraki Kenpachi - my version of the optimized fighter with a level of barbarian and a level of frenzied beserker (level 18 fighter for the weapon suppremacy feat. other feats include pounce, shock trooper and combat brute. the guy can charge and lay down a Balor. I also gave him a torc of antimagic (continous antimagic around him) to represent kenpachi's gigantic spiritual energy and the fact that his weapon can't 'transform' (yet).

binder class if you can get creative enough with it when delaing with chad and the girl that can heal ...the Quincy just give them a fixed varient of soulknife for ichigo you will want a odd blend of Nine Swords and having semi intellgent weapons abitly

oh and to add to the thing about anime in pepoles DnD the full point of D&D settings is to expand past the core what deos everyone thing ebraonn is based off of ? (not anime but as in movies like sin city) pepole that are so closed minded they can only bash other pepoles settings and play style relly have no buisness playing a FANTASY!! game which the full point is to expand past the real world and creat a world to play and interact in. These same pepole should try a world of darkness campaign and see what I mean . If you only want to stick with your core books thats fine. Let the rest of us expand on the game and creat more then just a few wizards and goblins.

Indeed it eve n says in Eberron a small list of movies it's based off of. But hey, to each his own. And binders for Chad and Ori, better then what i can think of, but then again i haven't even read the binder class yet (had the book for months and i'm just reading the truenamer....). Anyway To the person who made the Zaraki Build, i'd love to see it. And if anyone does do a Functioning Quincy let me know. I'd try but i'm busy with stuff that my not even get touched any way (classes, a campaign that's been in the works for 6 months...) And i'm ranting again, sorry.

allas he's lost in time, but what I recall 18 fighter 1 barbarian 1 frenzied berserker
feats:
- monkey grip (kenpachi fights with a greatsword 1-handed)
- weapon suppremacy (and its prereq. feats)
- combat brute (and its prereq. feats)
(and its prereq. feats)
- prereq. feats of frenzied beserker
- that feat that gives CON mod instead of WIS mod to will saves + iron will

Kenpachi weres a torc of antimagic (custom item, perm. antimagic around him).

He isn't designed to play with: since his charge can kill balors in one hit ... the fun is kind of lost on him + he isn't really a team player or problem solver.
("plz saves the princess ..." Kenpachi walks to the supreme comander of the royal guards ... <suddenly saving the princess isn't the parties greatest problem>)

status:
uber STR, and CON
above average CHA
normal DEX, INT
WIS = 3 "sanity? I dn't recall ever claming to have such a thing" + his sense of direction ...

Try using the Soul Bow from the Complete Psionic.

I'm aware of the soulbow, I just didn't care for it. It works decently though.

I'm not too familiar with the ToB maneuvers, but it definately looks like the swordsage is a good start for any shinigami(except for Kenpachi). I'd have to look through all the maneuvers closely to see which work the best, but shunpo is definately the teleportation ability from Shadow Hand. Individual weapons of legacy is probably the best representation of their zanpaktou. Kenpachi seems just like a straight fighter, but I'm not sure how to represent his tough skin or incredible spirit energy through a fighter. A combination of natural armor and DR would probably work for the former problem, but I'm stumped on the latter. Yoruichi is probably a ninja combined with swordsage.

I'm also not too familiar with psionics, but the Soulbow looks like a good choice for a Quincy. Given that Naruto characters were done with psionics, the same could probably be done for Chad and Orihime. I'm not too concerned with Bount, since they were just filler material. The Vizard and Arrancar are a problem, but I don't think I want to overwhelm myself just yet.

He said ninja! What a sin! Sorry i just don't care for the base ninja. The swordssage unarmed variant would work, or even a monk. I think some Shinigami would actually be Warblades with an allowed access to Shadow Hand fo the sake of the jaunting manuevers.

I mean bleach is cleary already DnD based.... you have your archer your supprot class healer super powered swordsage with a leadership feat that has a female cohort fighter mage your monk with ki blast for his fists

seriously...

Powered up swordsage
mage fighter
monk
healer cleric
archer

is the core bleach characters

I wonder if some wouldn't be warblades, mind you. Someone who is really good with their weapon and not just with some extra tricks (what was the name of the baldy guy from Kenpachi's squad again? Haven't read Bleach since I got disgusted by a plot twist) could definitely fit it. There could even be the odd crusader there - just because they're not wearing armor doesn't mean they can't be a crusader.

Yeah, the same psycho. Mind you, given the description of their entire unit as fight-thirsting wackos, I suppose most of them might actually fit the warblade class.

i would consider the captian more of a powerhouse barbarian becuse he cant relly use any ablities other then throwing his energy about

Maybe, although with some maneuvers/stances it's hard to tell if you're doing some special mojo or you're just that obscenely good.

Well i didn't mean they where all Warblades, just that they're not all swordsages either.

I don't see the Leadership Feat anywhere. They're all just doing ther part and have thier own reasons and if your talking about Yuirochi (Sp, alas it's been months since i've watched it myself), I doubt she's anyones cohort, and if she is i that hat and clogs dude.

Ichigo could also work as a Crusader. Change the fluff a bit and he might work. Like Zangetsu tells him the manuevers when it deems appropriate. The Steely Resolve (IIRC) would let him absorb the blows and keep on coming, and Furious Counterstrike works well for when he's angry and fighting back, like against Zaraki.
