| Marendithas_the_Necro04-10-06, 10:41 PM | http://www.d20srd.org/srd/variant/races/bloodlines.htm#minotaur I don't know if I understand how work the BLOODLINES Before a character with a bloodline reaches the indicated character level, he must take one class level of "bloodline." Class levels of "bloodline" do not increase a character's character level the way a normal class level does, but they do provide certain benefits A bloodline level grants no increase in base attack bonus or base save bonuses, no hit points or skill points, and no class features. It counts as a normal class level (with no class skills) for the purpose of determining maximum skill ranks. Levels of bloodline never result in XP penalties for multiclass characters. What do you think of that? I think it's pretty weak no? |
| Mitchell04-10-06, 11:58 PM | It's just sort of a reverse LA. Instead of starting out a level (or two, or three) behind everyone, you start out equally and lose levels as you go up, trading them in for certain special abilities. Whether these abilities are worth it is entirely up to each individual and dependent on the game that they play in. |
| Red_Rabbit04-11-06, 12:16 AM | I took Major Bloodline of Red Dragon with my Drow you only have to take 3 lvls of it to get all the powers, but you don't accually get the power until you reach the indicated lvl such as my Drow Priestess took her first lvl of her blood line at lvl 3 her next at lvl 6 and her last at lvl 9 which 3 lvls is the max you have to get on a Major bloodline to get all the power, but I don't think I'd take lvls of a bloodline again just didn't seem really worth it. | Slashatme04-11-06, 12:18 AM | Bloodlines are actually quite good. They provide many abilities as you level that it makes up for the lost 3 levels (at most.) So you lose at most 3 BAB and 2 to each save at most and get no skills, you can easily get +skills, spells, stats, and feats from bloodlines. |
| Mist of Shadows04-11-06, 02:37 AM | It's really all about the build :) Abuse the fact that you give to add you blood line to a number of different level based things. Such as taking one level of duelist but getting to count as a level 4 duelist for int to ac bonus. Same with blade singer. So two levels nets you a +8 to ac rather then a +2. There are a great number of things that are like that. For example certain level 5 classes are more interesting (breakable) by increasing it's use by 3 or more if the dm let's you take more then one bloodline. (which it never says you can't) |
| Marendithas_the_Necro04-11-06, 08:00 AM | Do we need to take always 3 lvl or it's depend of the strength ? |
| The_Shaman04-11-06, 09:19 AM | 1 for minor, 2 for intermediate, 3 for major, at levels 3 (maj), 6 (maj, int) and 12 (all). These "levels" of bloodline count as class levels for uses of skills (i.e. stunning fist, perhaps bard songs?), caster level etc but you get no skill pts, hit points, or spells. So, actually, it's better than the LA, since it actually gives you some useful stuff (caster level helps, for example). I have been thinking about a sorcerer with a fey or doppelganger bloodline. Sounds cool... bonus to charisma, to skills, feats etc... Still major bloodlines are perhaps the most useful as at lvl. 20 you will usually have a damage reduction. Now, want to bet THAT comes in handy :) ? |
| CzarGarrett04-11-06, 09:23 AM | I happen to like Bloodlines. I find they are more 'realistic' in terms of heritage that some of the other classes. Plus, you can be more specific. Instead of being a Half-Fire Elemental, you can have bloodlines from Efreeti, Elementals, so on and so on. It gives more RP potential. |
