| Larz_Fang10-10-06, 04:43 AM | Well... my friend said something about making a prestige class like the blue mage out of Final Fantasy to our campaign. I'm not sure yet what would be involved in such prestige class, but please tell me if that is such a good idea. You know, being able to learn spells and spell-like abilities from monsters and other spellcasters when they use them against you and you manage to survive them. |

I don't know how easy it would be to convert it to a more wizardly approach, but if you prefer the wizard approach, go with it. |
| Larz_Fang10-23-06, 08:16 AM | Well, yea, but it just kinda doesn't fit in my vision of a Blue Wizard. Now I agree about the "not able to learn spell-like abilities that can only be used 1/day" rule and all that, but I just wouldn't want to look like an ultimate incarnation of blue color (my favourite color is green). I kinda want to make the whole blue coloring optional and allow wizards to take this prestige class more often than other arcane spellcasters (much like with red wizards of Thay, not many sorcerers in their ranks I'm afraid). |

| Larz_Fang10-24-06, 03:06 AM | That's true, but that still doesn't make it right. What I meant to say that I wouldn't want my spellcaster to be permanently bound to only one color, even if the color was green (I would get bored to even that in the end). I'm just not the type who likes to wear the same color all the time. Here's an example; if I played a necromancer, there would no chance in hell that you'd get me to stay in black color. That's why I'd never play as a mage in Dragonlance setting, since the color of their robes changes only if their alignment changes. |
| Nexis10-24-06, 04:32 AM | Its not like you could ever house rule a change to the class. If color is the only thing holding you from the class than just change it, or, if you find more stuff irratating about it, make a new one. |

The color itself is arbitrary. Whether it changes or not is arbitrary. The ability has virtually no mechanical value one way or the other. |
