Hi, I'm Steven, and I'm starting into the Dark Tower series, and I already know the last sentance of the last book, dang. In any case, I'm just into book three, and I wanted to see a Gunslinger base class, followed by an Epic PrC. I've seen some threads float around, and one suggests that most gunslingers a pre-epic, or epic. So, I thought the base class could be "Gunslinger Aprentice" or something.

Gunslingers, however, are very powerful and not balanced in a D&D game. So, we need to focus on only a few aspects of the GUnslinger at a time. Perhaps we could make a variant or two.

The things that I have seen that define a gunslinger: he can dish out damage with guns, he is skillful in almost everything, he can go on for exremely long times without sustinance, he is near-immortal (or so the man in black says), and a lot of other things.

Possibilities that I've thought of to reflect these: He's allowed to advance up the Weaon Focus feat tree, he can have 4 skill points per level, with a large selection of skills (Maybe two sets of skills, for the survival type of gunslinger, and the diplomat style), have him gain Endurance, or an extraordinary ability to go without water and food for longer, and resistance to death from harsh weather. Give him the monk ability that stops aging effects. Give him the ability (from a PrC in one of the Complete books) that slows aging, and who knows what else.

There is one problem with the things above: You can do this with a fighter 2/rogue2/ranger4/5(that PrC I mentioned). The Gunslinger class would need something origional, something cool. Something Gunslingery. And, with all the new materials out, this will be harder to do.

so, all you fans of Stephen King and players oh D&D, let's see your thoughts! How can we make gunslingers work in a 3.5 world, and how many variants will we need? What specialties can we give them, and what about that epic PrC?

Not like this is a :bump: or anything, but I just found this really cool class (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=150819) that we might be able to base this off of. I like what his class has to offer, but I think it needs a few changes...

Pretty much, but I'd like to see a gunslinger class too.

D20 Modern has a Gunslinger. It should have some steal-able stuff.

Look into Iron Kingdoms TM. They have a decent stats for firearms AND PrC's for rifle & pistol. Love the Gunmage too.

If you do it as a PrC, give it a progressively better series of shots, with things like I do not shoot with my hand, and culminating with I shoot with my heart, things that would be like a sneak attackish thing for winning initiative but only applies to a first shot.
