Some body designs may add some discipline powers to the list. lvl pp powers max lvl manifester level 1 2 1 1 2 2 5 3 2 4 3 11 5 3 6 4 19 7 4 8 5 29 9 5 10 6 42 11 6 12 7 56 13 7 14 8 73 15 8 16 9 93 17 9 18 10 114 19 9 20 Body designs: Each level, the Body Designer has concentrated enough psionic power to himself to design himself a little bit. The Body Designer chooses a design from any of the lists below. Once attained, the design cannot be removed. They are permanent. To take a design from a list you must first have all the lesser designs from that list. The first design on a list has no prerequisites. The creation of these designs is psionic in nature, but once the design is complete, it is not psionic and radiates no psionic aura. Design lists: Dual Mind: 1) Split Personality: You have two distinct personalities, though you can control both of them. This ability gives you a +2 bonus to bluff and disguise checks. 2) Separate minds: You have two distinct minds that communicate with each other, constantly solving problems and such as a team. You gain a +2 bonus to all knowledge skills. 3) Body separation: One half of your brain takes care of right side of your body, the other half takes care of the left side. You have extraordinary coordination and balance. You no longer take -2 penalty to attack rolls when fighting with 2 weapons and you gain +2 bonus to climb, tumble, balance, jump, swim 4) Thought separation: You can manifest 2 powers in a round. You gain no other actions from this ability. You may have 2 minds and thoughts, but you have only normal number of limbs. Power Management: 1) Increased power reserve: You gain 5 more power points. 2) Power drain: You can inflict 1d20 damage with a touch attack. You gain as many powerpoints as you caused damage. You can also deal damage to yourself. 3) Increased power reserve: You gain 10 powerpoints. 4) Power regeneration: 1/day, you can activate power regeneration. Once activated, you fall into very deep meditation and you regenerate power points at the rate of 1/round. In this state, you cannot interact with your environment in any way. You're considered helpless. Once every 10 rounds of mediation, you must make a will save (DC 10 + rounds already meditated). If you fail, you fall into coma (int, wis and cha drop to 0). A raise dead or similar spell can bring you back to life. You can voluntarily end the meditation at any time. Brain Enhancements: 1) Deep brain: you gain +1 bonus to all int-based skill checks. 2) Complex brain: your mind cannot be read (with, for example, detect thoughts or read thoughts). 3) Fast mind: you gain +2 bonus to initiative checks. Also, every check that requires time, now require half as much time. 4) Brain mass increase: gain +2 bonus to intelligence. Adaptivity: 1) Temperature adjustment: you gain fire and cold resistance 5 2) Assume form: you gain +10 bonus to disguise checks if you want to represent certain individual you have seen before. 3) Thought assimilation: at will, you can read thoughts (as per the power) with a range of touch. You can also, 3/day implant a memory or thought into the brain of a creature you touch. The memory or thought must be no more than 4 words long, and it must be in harmony with that creature's base ideals and principles. (You can't change alignment, religion, personal goals or personality.) 4) Brain drain: if you eat an intelligent (int more than 10) creature's brain, you gain a temporary +1 bonus to intelligence. It lasts for one hour. The brain must be consumed from either a living body, or from a body that has been dead for no more than five minutes. Widened Mind: 1) Widened eye focus: You gain a +3 bonus to spot and search 2) Widened thought focus: You gain a +1 bonus to all knowledge skills 3) Widened power focus: You add either the Egoist discipline powers or the Telepath discipline powers (player's choice) to your Body Designer power list. 4) Widened psionic focus: 3/day: When you expend your psionic focus, the numeric effect is 1.5 times greater. |
| Jaeron Dalur03-08-06, 02:50 AM | I like this alot. The only problems I have are mostly formatting and spelling (for clarification not just to be a nag), the fact that you forgot the powers section, and that unless you need every previous body modification in a certain category then it is overpowered (if for instance you need "Skitsofrenia" to get "Separate minds", and "Separate minds" to get "Body separation", then it would go a long way to make this PrC balanced). |
| meatrace03-08-06, 03:42 AM | seems interesting. but goodness WHY call it the intelligent designer. you're asking to be mocked, and I'm doing all that I can to hold back... |
| ArochanoX03-08-06, 04:28 AM | I like this alot. Thanks The only problems I have are mostly formatting and spelling (for clarification not just to be a nag), Okay. I don't have a spell-check program, so could you help me with this? the fact that you forgot the powers section, and that unless you need every previous body modification in a certain category then it is overpowered (if for instance you need "Skitsofrenia" to get "Separate minds", and "Separate minds" to get "Body separation", then it would go a long way to make this PrC balanced). Took care of those. Main post is edited. seems interesting. I'm in gratitude of your intrest. but goodness WHY call it the intelligent designer. you're asking to be mocked, and I'm doing all that I can to hold back... I renamed this thing to body designer. For some strange reason, all those body designs seem to make this towards chronotyryn or mind flayer. Illithid disciple would be fluff-wise very bad choise for a prc name.. :D |
| Jaeron Dalur03-08-06, 07:05 AM | Okay. I don't have a spell-check program, so could you help me with this? Sent you a Private Message with the changes. |
| Jaeron Dalur03-08-06, 07:25 AM | What is the Perfect Two-Weapon Fighting feat? |
| Milo HoBo03-08-06, 08:04 AM | Your manifester level goes to 13 while you are manifesting 9th level powers. 9th level powers require you spend at least 17 p.p. which is more than you manifester level by 5 pps. If you switched your powers known and your manifester level, it would be fix that without much hassle. I don't really have the time to help any more, but neat idea and good luck. Do you plan to make a variant where an already psionic character can take it and move up in manifester levels? |

Do you plan to make a variant where an already psionic character can take it and move up in manifester levels? Maybe gaining powers, pp/day, and manifester level as if you had gained another level in psion would work. You could just change the description of "Widened power focus" to add the discipline to your psion's power list instead of just your Body Designer's list. That would remove the odd manifester level progression (which would cause problems with psionic item creation feat prereqs). If you do that, also consider NOT gaining a level of psion powers/pp/manifester level on the first level to keep it from being too powerfull. |
| ArochanoX03-08-06, 08:53 AM | PERFECT TWO-WEAPON FIGHTING [EPIC] Prerequisites: Dex 25, Greater Two-Weapon Fighting, Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, Two-Weapon Fighting. Benefit: The character can make as many attacks with his or her off-hand weapon as with his or her primary weapon, using the same base attack bonus. The character still takes the normal penalties for fighting with two weapons. Normal: Without this feat, a character can only get a single attack with an off-hand weapon (or two attacks with an off-hand weapon if he or she has Improved Two-Weapon Fighting, or three attacks with an off-hand weapon if he or she has Greater Two-Weapon Fighting). Quote from SRD And then about the manifester level dilemma. I could always state that body designer can use powerpoints as if his manifester level were 2x his body designer level. Or the manifester level could be 2x body designer level. As the manifester level don't make powers so much more powerful as caster level does. |

Manifester level is the psionic equivalent of caster level. A psion with a manifester level of 13 is as powerful as a level 13 wizard (as far as spell power, and availability of metapsionic and item creation feats go). |
| Jaeron Dalur03-09-06, 01:33 AM | I feel that Perect Two-Weapon Fighting is much too powerful an ability to give out to a character of that level (especially without having to qualify for it). |
| ArochanoX03-09-06, 03:46 AM | Perfect two weapon fighting is now +2 to attack rolls when fighting with 2 weapons. Manifester level is now 2x body designer level. |
| ArochanoX03-10-06, 05:27 AM | :bump: more fluff coming later. And maybe more body design lists. |
| Jaeron Dalur03-10-06, 06:44 AM | I don't think you realize just how powerful a manifester level of 2xclass level is. A 10th level Body Designer, as it is now, can manifest powers as well as a 20th level psion. That is WAY too powerfull and needs to be changed. |
| ArochanoX03-11-06, 09:52 AM | It has half as much powers and half as much power points. If I made a custom power list for power levels 1-5 that would include psion powers from level 1 to 7-8, would it be better? Augmenting still is as powerpoint intensive as it is now. |

If I made a custom power list for power levels 1-5 that would include psion powers from level 1 to 7-8, would it be better? Augmenting still is as powerpoint intensive as it is now. It's not really the number or selection of powers that makes it unbalanced. It is the fact that, as is, a 10th level Body Designer's powers are just as hard to resist as a level 20 psion and that it can spend twice the power points of a psion of equal level. That is much too powerful. |
| ArochanoX03-12-06, 05:42 AM | Powers: The Body Designer chooses his powers from psion list. Some body designs may add some discipline powers to the list. The body designer, unlike other manifesters, can spend powerpoints equal to 2x his body designer level. The actual manifester level is not changed, only the amout of powerpoints that can be used to single power. Manifester level is body designers class level. How about that? You can grap the first level of this prc at a level 9, which means that this class atleast 2 powerlevels behind psion, though at level 19 body designer can spend 20 powerpoints to a single power, where straight psions can spend 19. For comparsion psion has roughly twice the amount of powerpoints and powers at level 20. Not to mention much better power range and twice longer durations. |

I see what you are saying (I think), but there is a much easier way to do that without making the Body Designer's power system so complicated and broken looking. If you want a psion who takes this class to not totally lose out on it's powers because it took this PrC, then just use this (it's standard for PrCs that advance your manifesting ability): "At every level, the character gains additional power points per day and access to new powers as if she had also gained a level in whatever manifesting class she belonged to before she added the prestige class. She does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained (bonus feats, metapsionic or item creation feats, psicrystal special abilities, and so on). This essentially means that she adds the level of Body Designer to the level of whatever manifesting class the character has, then determines power points per day, powers known, and manifester level accordingly. If a character had more than one manifesting class before she became a Body Designer, she must decide to which class she adds the new level of Body Designer for the purpose of determining power points per day, powers known, and manifester level." I would also make it so that the firstlevelofBody Designer does not grant the extra manifester level so that it is not a no brainer to take this class (thisis also pretty much standard operating procedure for PrC's). |
| ArochanoX03-12-06, 07:20 AM | I'd much rather compare this prc to Ur-Priest or Apostle of Peace.. Psionic geomancer is not the thing I want. |
| Jaeron Dalur03-12-06, 08:21 AM | I'd much rather compare this prc to Ur-Priest or Apostle of Peace.. Psionic geomancer is not the thing I want. The Apostle of Peace has some major drawbacks to balance the fact that it gets 9th level spells. One drawback is that it has a limited spell list. And the other, HUGE drawback is that it can't hurt other ceatures or own property, lest they loose all their abilities. The Body Designer has no drawbacks what-so-ever the way it is written, let alone ones as dibilitating as the Apostle of Peace's. It needs to be balanced against classes which it is actually like not ones you want it to be like. |
