Okay, so yesterday I was thinking...what if there was a class designed to deal damage. JUST DEAL DAMAGE. nothing else. Simply a perfect killing machine and nothing else. I don't have a name for it yet, but here's it's info.

HD: D8
BAB: Good
Class Skills: Climb, Craft, Intimidate, Jump, Profession, search, spot, Survival
Skill Points per level: 2+INT modifier
Starting Gold: 2D4x10
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: The [name] is proficient with light armor and simple weapons, but not with shields.

Element of Destruction: At 1st level, the [name] must pick an element that he channels into his rays of destruction and other abilities. The choices are: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth, Metal, and Vibration. An earth [name] deals acid damage with his abilities, an air [name] deals lightning damage, a fire [name] deals fire damage, a water [name] deals cold damage, a Metal [name] deals slashing and piercing damage, and a Vibration [name] deals sonic damage.

Ray of Destruction: At 1st level, the [name] gains a ray with a range of 50 feet. [no range increment] It is a ranged touch attack that deals 1D6 points of damage per class level, the type of damage is indicated by there element.
The Ray of Destruction is a standard action which provokes an attack of opportunity, and is identical to a ranged attack, including number of attacks per round. The ray of destruction is not affected by SR, but it is affected by DR. They critical on a 20, dealing double damage. Ray of Destruction cannot be used in conjuction with meduim or heavier armor.

Fists of Destruction: Also at 1st level, the [name] gains a melee touch attack that deals the same amount of damage as his Ray of Destruction. Using it is a standard action that is the same as a melee attack, including number of attacks per round. SR does not apply, but DR does. They critical on a 20 for double damage. Fists of Destruction does not work if the [name] is using meduim or heavier armor.

Armor of Destruction: At 6th level, anyone who strikes the [name] with a melee weapon or natural weapon must make a fortitude save [DC 10+Class Level+Charisma modifier] or take 1D6 points of damage, of the type indicated by his element. This damage increases by one die every 3 levels. [2D6 at 9th level, 3D6 at 12th level...]

Improved Elements of Destruction: At 9th level, the [name] gains Resistance to his element 20. Metal Element [name]s gain DR 4/-. In addition, his Rays of Destruction and Fists of Destruction now critical on a 19-20. In addition, they ignore hardness when used against objects now.

Greater Elements of Destruction: At 13th level, the [name] gains Immunity to his element, and the a Metal [name] now has DR 8/-. In addition, his Rays of Destruction and Fists of Destruction now critical for three times the damage, and bypass damage reduction.

Destroyer Apothesis: At 20th level the [name] becomes a pure engine of destruction. His type changes to Unknown, a new type that gives these advantages:
DR equal to 1/2 hit dice/epic.
Resistance to all elements equal to hit dice
All future HD have maximum Hit Points per die.
All future HD are D12s.

So, it's...KIND of like a Barbarian, except with some elemental stuff? Elemental Berserker? Barbarians are basically what you said, just made to go in and do as much damage as possible.

Barbarians are also supposed to soak up damage, however. This has no such ability. It is a pure, unmitigated destroyer.

It's called Warlock. With a little Fighter mixed in.

Warmage?

No, no. I'm not looking for suggestions on other classes. I'm looking for help with this class...

Don't really care. There's no need for a class that has a single ability that can be completely duplicated or surpassed by an equal level caster. Warlock at least has SOME other things, what do you have? DR40/Bludgeoning (and your reasoning for this not being a tank class was the innability to take a hit? hah!) and an absolutely absurd Epic Progression.

Seriously, just play a Warmage.

Well, the only problem is that you need to suck up damage if you're going to run in and do a ton of melee damage. That's why Barbarians have ridiculously high HP, so that they can maintain in the middle of a battle, doing as much damage as possible. This guy would run into the middle of a battle, hit a few things, then die. My apologies for being so pessimistic, but it's just that you'd either need Heavy Armor and a Shield (a la fighter) or a buttload of HP (a la Barbarian) to do major melee damage. It just doesn't really work otherwise.

Uh, what? You have DR40/Bludgeoning. You walk into the encounter, see if anybody is holding a staff, club, mace, or whatever. If they're typical people with a great sword, you walk in and pretty much shrug off 90% of all attacks.

Even ignoring that, a 1 level dip into Fighter or Paladin or whatever gets your Armor and Shield proficiency, and there's absolutely nothing to stop you from using it. And a d8 HP is -not- low. The only stat you really need is Charisma, so make your secondary stat con, and you'll only be an average of 1 HP/level behind a Fighter. Seriously, a d10 or d12 HP is not that big of a deal, saying otherwise is a joke. I'd give up 1 HP a level anyday for DR40.

Then on top of that the epic progression is absurd. Hell, just level 20 is absurd. Now even if someone has a bludgeoning weapon, you still have DR20/Epic, which nobody is going to be bypassing until probably around level 25-30 minimum. You have resistance to -all- energy types equal to your hit dice, and a full 12 HP per level from that point on, meaning you'll quickly pass up the Barbarian, since you're getting on average twice what he is.

I'm sorry, but this class is going to be absurd at tanking, despite what you seem to think.

Also, let's take Improved Crit on Rays of Destruction. 15-20x3? I dare you to find a normal weapon to match that. (Though by that level most things are immune to crits so it doesn't matter, I'm just saying)

DR40/Bludgeoning

Are you playing 3.0 or something?

DR40 doesn't exist anymore. The 3.0->3.5 docs say to change all DR (0-40) to 0-15 range with the majority of powerful DR at 10. If you look in MMI and MMIII only have 1 creature with DR15 and that is Very Old Dragons. And Wyrm (and up) Dragons are the only DR20 or higher in the game.

So you think your class should be twice as good at absorbing damage as a Colossal Great Wyrm Dragon?

Also X3 is incompatible with 18-20. Increase the range or the multiplier, not both.

JUST DEAL DAMAGE. nothing else.

One more thing, then I'm done with this brokeness. If it deals damage, then taking damage is something else. If it does nothing else than deal damage, it should have no damage absorbing abilities at all.

Okay, so yesterday I was thinking...what if there was a class designed to deal damage. JUST DEAL DAMAGE. nothing else. Simply a perfect killing machine and nothing else. I don't have a name for it yet, but here's it's info.

/snip/

Let's see:

Ray of Destruction: Broken... a 20th-level character could shoot 4 rays at +20/+15/+10/+5, each dealing 20d6 points of damage, and each one can threaten a critical hit. Either change to 1d6 per 4 HD (5d6 at 20th level) or 10d6 once per round.

Fists of Destruction: same as above. A monk will tank everything with this.

Armor of Destruction: change it to 1d6 per 3 HD.

Greater Elements of Destruction: change to resistance to energy, and DR equal to class level.

You should turn this class into a prestige class for warlocks. At first level, they get to choose a element. Make it so that PrC level stack with warlock levels, and give it an additional 1d6 at first level, so at 20th-level, an eldritch blast will deal 10d6 points of damage, instead of 9d6.

The Ray of Destruction is a standard action which provokes an attack of opportunity, and is identical to a ranged attack, including number of attacks per round.

Just to clarify, I'm assuming you mean that it's a standard action, unless they have high enough BAB to warrant extra attacks, in which case it can be used as a full-attack action, which is a full-round action.

Ray of Destruction: Twice as good as Eldritch Blast damage AND ignores spell resistance. Provokes attacks of opportunity which doesn't matter because it's ranged.

Fist of Destruction: Once again, better than Eldritch blast, and DOESN'T provoke attacks of opportunity.

Lower the Resistance ALOT, maybe 10/15 to each at level 20, and immune to the chosen.

Okay, toned down destroyer apothesis and made it so armor heavier than light makes it impossible to use Ray/Fist of destruction.
