| Rath_Robert06-29-04, 09:23 AM | The Bounty Hunter In civilized lands, local lords call upon bounty hunters to capture criminals that live beyond their reach, or who outclass the knights and soldiers in the lord’s employ. Closer to the frontier, the lone bounty hunter might be the only law capable of bringing dangerous criminals to justice. Those who hire bounty hunters both like them and scorn them. Evil bounty hunters might seek to recapture the innocent or bring selected captives to cult leaders as sacrifices. They might belong to these cults or work for pay. Evil bounty hunters might also hunt down good adventurers in the name of evil forces. Game Rule Information The bounty hunter has the following game statistics: Abilities: Dexterity and Charisma are the bounty hunter’s two most important abilities. | pickles78RSA06-29-04, 03:30 PM | i tried to make a bounty hunter of sorts...i went on the same route as you...but i just could not make it work... so i based it on the rogue...where the sneak attack damage could be subdual damage if the bounty hunter so wished. i based it on the ranger and the rogue... i will put mine up soon so you can look at it... tom |
| roguebfl06-29-04, 03:45 PM | Well have you looks at the Divine vertion? Complete Divine has the Consecrated Harrier, Which a Bounty hunter for the Church. |
| pickles78RSA06-29-04, 04:21 PM | check out my bounty hunter... |
| Blakk_Magemaster06-29-04, 06:40 PM | This class as great potential. The ablities are great, but they're few and far between. You might want to give it some abilities at the earlier levels, so it doesn't get left behind in the core class balance range. something to think about for now |
| Rath_Robert06-29-04, 07:09 PM | Hmmm... Well I'll have to brainstorm on what you all said. |
| Asi the red06-30-04, 02:11 AM | Hey ya'. First off, are you the same Robert Rath that had a thread named "My own custom classes"? If so, good to see you again, and I look forward to working with you, if not... what a coincidence that is, and I still look forward to working with you. Agreeing with Blakk_Magemaster on his point; great potential, but thin on the abilities. 1. Track, while an important feature for the class to have, isn't really powerful. Recommend giving Track and a Bonus Feat at first level. 2. Replace the 3rd level (which was Track) with the ability to deal subdual damage at a -2 penalty, instead of a -4 penalty. Then have the penalty disappear altogether at 6th. 3. Diving Falcon, while good, isn't particularly good for a 8th level ability. How about Haste while in sight and moving towards your target? Can't remember what it does exactly in 3.5, but I'm pretty sure it gives a movement bonus, and it'd be a little more useful once you get to the target than what it's got now. 4. Have Attuned Senses apply to Wilderness Lore checks for Tracking only (in addition to what it already does). At 13th or 14th, let them Track otherwise untrackable creatures (right now, only the Druid's 'Trackless Step' ability comes to mind, but I'm sure something else has a similar ability). 5. Move Thousand Faces up to 17th. 6. For Relentless Pursuit, once they are on the trail, they only require half the sleep that they would otherwise need. This could potentially be a lower level ability, not sure exactly what kind of effect this could have. Perhaps half the amount of sleep around 11th, no sleep at 14th? Call it Unending Pursuit? Don't know about that one either though. Asi the Red. |
| Rath_Robert06-30-04, 03:58 PM | Yes, I'd be the same, but I am now 3.5 compatiable so a lot of my stuff needs re-looked at and balanced, I'm glad you remembered me. |
| Asi the red06-30-04, 07:15 PM | Hey ya'. Course I remembered, I remember all the people that I had a good time working with. Are you going to be re-doing any of the other classes, if so (and you need a hand, feel free to PM me). Working on classes is my favorite thing to do on this forum, expecially if the idea's really good. What did you think of my comments? Asi the Red. |
| Rath_Robert07-02-04, 09:56 AM | Some new and significant changes took place, but now I think it might be a bit much, tell me what I can take off to balance this stuff. |
| Rath_Robert07-04-04, 08:36 AM | Got some good replies earlier, what do you all think of the changes? |
| Blakk_Magemaster07-04-04, 01:48 PM | Wow! I like where you've taken this. You really add some nice abilities and i think, from the way it looks, that it's not underpowered and it's balanced. I'll have to play test it first but, that'll be later... Hunter’s Haste: Starting at 5th level, once per day, the Bounty Hunter may act as if under the effects of the Haste Spell. Basically, when using making a full attack action, the bounty hunter may make an additional attack at his highest BAB. He also gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and +1 Reflex saves while using this ability. In addition this ability would grant the bounty hunter a +30 to base speed for the duration his ability lasts. This ability lasts for the number of rounds equal to 5 + the Bounty Hunter’s Constitution modifier. After this display of power, the bounty hunter is considered winded (-2 Str and Dex and he cannot run or charge for the duration of the encounter). He may use this ability the number of times per day as listed on the table below. At the beginning you say once per day then you say a number based on the chart. you might want to edit that. Bounty Hunter’s Code: A bounty hunter is bound to his employer is not allowed to undertake any other missions until his prey is caught. Doing so will cause the Bounty Hunter to loose his Diving Falcon, Attuned Senses, A Thousand Faces, and Relentless pursuit abilities. He also will no longer be able to gain levels as a Bounty Hunter. What is up with the code? I don't exactly know what the limitations are and if i do get the gist, it seems quite harsh. |
| Rath_Robert07-05-04, 06:01 PM | Any other suggestions on this before I edit it and put it in the books. |
| Asi the red07-06-04, 01:07 AM | Hey ya'. Glanced it over and it looks good to me. Nice Job! Asi the Red. |
| The GOP Dragon07-09-04, 03:38 PM | It looks pretty good. I'd like to try this in one of my campaigns sometime. |
