| Sussin03-12-04, 11:48 AM | I've had an idea for a character who trys to takes enimies in alive when posible. But i'm trying to decide what class would be best for this. At first i thought an enchanter, but one of my friends wanted to be that. Right now i'm thinking 3 levels of swashbuckler, then go up in fighter levels. i figure the best way to take someone in alive is to disarm them. So feat wise i was thinking Wepon Finess (automatic at first level) Exotic Wepon Sai Expertise Improved disarm Ampidex 2 wepon fighting and i thought i'd try and get a level in assain first chance i get since i intend on having a high inteligence I'm trying to think if this is better then just going rogue and aplying that sneak attack damage to subduel and just knock the guy out. And then of course there are net and whips and all sorts of other ways to take a guy in alive. So what are your thought? what would make the best bounty hunter? |

Take the feat in the Book of Exalted Deeds that lets you deal nonlethal damage at no to-hit penalty (or just rely on your Ranger Favored Enemy bonus to offset that). Disarming them is nice, but just flat knocking them unconscious is even better. If you have Unearthed Arcana, you might look into the Urban Ranger variant, too. |
| Scandal03-12-04, 12:00 PM | Do you have the complete warrior and are you playing 3.0 or 3.5?? In the complete warrior is the justiciar (spelling??) That class is based around being a bounty hunter.. there is also another class in the Masters of the Wild I believe like the blood hound or something that is a bounty hunter type as well.. For a base class the Ranger is probably the best for a bounty hunter.. -Scan |

| Nifft03-12-04, 12:24 PM | Before PrC: Ranger/Rogue... nothing better than sneak attacking with your sap for a load of subdual damage. -- N |
| Orcish Fury03-12-04, 12:28 PM | To find people, you'll either need track or Gather Information, preferably both. A ranger/rogue would be a great choice. |
| TheMightyMcClaw03-12-04, 03:19 PM | I had a very similar idea.... used Tonfa instead of Sai, though. The best build I came up with: Swashbuckler (Complete Warrior)/Ninja (Rokugan). At Level 3, the Swashbuckler adds int to damage. At level 4, the Ninja adds Int to Initiative. Both get good attack bonuses and skill points, and get Dodge bonuses to AC. Plus, there is the fact that you are a Swashbuckling Ninja. That's just hardcore, man :P. Ranger is another good choice, by the way (especially since you're going to be TWF with those sai). Groovy weapon choice, by the way. |
| Sussin03-12-04, 05:22 PM | well its a +4 to disarm with those things :) plus the nice thing about duel weilding with a swashbucker is that you can add your full int bonus to each hand. As apose to str where is only half with your offhand i've been looking at this and right now i'm thinking 3 swash/2 fighter/ 2 ranger/ 2 assassin |
