| TanglePython01-21-07, 09:23 PM | Hi, Im looking for any kind of classes like a bounty hunter? Got anything? |
| benstundze01-21-07, 09:45 PM | Try this here: Boundary Warden (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=752489) |
| Yosho01-21-07, 09:48 PM | There are about three prestige classes in complete warrior that fit the bill, Blood hound, Justicer, something else. In terms of base classes just about any would do. |
| TanglePython01-21-07, 09:55 PM | uhhhh...not quit....a little more for the "bounty hunter feel", kinda like the bloodhound from complete adventurer, some one who hunts his designated target, using stealth and other tactics. Haha, i kinda got it in my head..i just want some class features maybe I could work around. Also maybe some one can tell me what the "mark" feature of the "Bloodhound" does? Thanks for the attempt anyways:) |
| TanglePython01-21-07, 09:56 PM | Yosho could you tell me some of those perstige class features, thanks. |
| Lotus Crane01-21-07, 10:01 PM | Honestly, there's nothing wrong with playing a ranger, especially an urban ranger (see Unearthed Arcana), as a bounty hunter. It's got stealth, it's got skill, it's got combat ability, and the favored enemy ability lets you specialize in tracking and capturing and/or killing certain targets. However, if you don't particularly care for the ranger's nature themes, or the spellcasting mechanic, allow me to toot my own horn here by suggesting you take a look at this. (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=776548) |
| TanglePython01-21-07, 10:04 PM | Thanks lotus.....your my hero...hahah......no no nice class...nice class |
| TanglePython01-21-07, 10:07 PM | just one thing tho...see me and my freinds are playing a campeign...slightly...."un-fantasy"... creatures and monsters normal in the D&D world either do not exist or are very rare...therefore many of the enemies we are fighting are humans... therefore a rangers favored enemy wouldnt be to great...and also kinda cheap considering that all the enemies are humans and a rangers favored enmy would be almost always in use. So maybe somekind of alternative for this class feature. |
| TanglePython01-21-07, 10:11 PM | P.S. i have two questions 1) what does P.E.A.C.H stand for 2) what is with whole "according to the test, i am a chaotic evil paladin with the stats....", cuz if there are tests like that...i want in haha |
| Danekus01-21-07, 10:34 PM | P.E.A.C.H= Please Examine And Critic Honestly. Question #2= No clue. I think a website called Druid's Grove has one. Not shure so don't quote me on it. |
| benstundze01-21-07, 10:47 PM | google: D&D stat quiz then look around ben |
| Lotus Crane01-21-07, 10:53 PM | just one thing tho...see me and my freinds are playing a campeign...slightly...."un-fantasy"... creatures and monsters normal in the D&D world either do not exist or are very rare...therefore many of the enemies we are fighting are humans... Well, you could just stick to the favored environment abilities, which should probably still be useful. Or for favored enemies, change to the table to: Table: Ranger Favored Enemies Type Type Animal Miscellaneous Arcane caster Monster Divine caster Psychic Heavy warrior Skill master Light warrior As you can see, favored enemies are now mostly divided by class, rather than by creature type (I apologize if the organization seems random or arbitrary, especially with regards to the miscellaneous category). Animals are self-explanatory of course; monsters would be anything that isn't a human or an animal. Arcane Casters: Artificers, beguilers, dread necromancers, sorcerers, warlocks, warmages, wizards, wu jen Divine Casters: Archivists, Clerics, druids, favored soul, healer, shugenja, spirit shaman Heavy Warriors: Barbarian, crusader, fighter, knight, marshal, paladin, samurai, warblade Light Warriors: Duskblade, hexblade, monk, ranger, swashbuckler, swordsage Miscellaneous: Binder, dragon shaman, incarnate, shadowcaster, soulborn, truenamer, totemist Psychics: Ardent, divine mind, lurk, psion, psychic warrior, soulknife, wilder Skill Masters: Bard, ninja, rogue, scout, spellthief therefore a rangers favored enemy wouldnt be to great...and also kinda cheap considering that all the enemies are humans and a rangers favored enmy would be almost always in use. So maybe somekind of alternative for this class feature. Uh, you seem to be contradicting yourself. How can favored enemy be both "not too great" and "cheap" at the same time? If it's cheap, then it's great; if it's not too great, it's not cheap. ~_~ |
| benstundze01-21-07, 11:27 PM | Uh, you seem to be contradicting yourself. How can favored enemy be both "not too great" and "cheap" at the same time? | RappinRabbi01-22-07, 03:56 AM | A really fun build is a Bard Vigilantie. Pick the right spells and your a stealth and hunting machine. Maybe Ranger Viginalinte might work too, havent checked, but I've seen a really well done Vigilantie/Bard build before. |
| The_Shaman01-22-07, 11:06 AM | Hm, if you're a bounty hunter you need several things: a way to find people who don't want to be found, a way to make sure they're coming with you, I guess a way to transport them without too much trouble, and the stamina and abilities to make sure you make it back alive. Technically, most classes have their own ways to do that... Ranger, rogues and bards are perhaps the most intuitive, but a wizard who puts her mind to it can be terrifyingly effective, too - but then again, spellcasters with the right selection can do pretty much anything. Some PrCs with this particular bent are the bloodhound, justiciar, and the assassin - the first two from CAdv, I believe, the last from the DMG - and if you're looking into something more exotic the Consecrated Harrier, Imaskari Vengeance Taker, Evereskan Tomb Guardian, and many more. Oh, and by the way, I worked on a BH prestige class myself, check my sig if you're interested. |
| TanglePython01-22-07, 11:14 AM | thanks guys |
| TanglePython01-22-07, 11:18 AM | Yo shaman..you and me think alike..no joke yesturday I was makng this bounty hunte class, and then went on to day to see replys. I see your class, check it out...and guess what...it is almost exactly the same. Thanks again for the help guys |
| The_Shaman01-22-07, 11:45 AM | Heh, happened to me once - we were discussing if there'd be a class for fallen paladins, risen blackguards and the like. I was just thinking how cool it'd be and the next day I find a 3.0 class - ghost walker or some such - with exactly the same flavor. Something similar happened with this class I made - it was for a friend from my university group, he wanted a non-evil assassin: I made it thinking how there are no bounty hunter PrCs and after I made it I found an entire heap - supplements, web books, compendia, you name it... |
| Animana01-22-07, 01:10 PM | You might also want to check out the Harrier by marrithl2 in my signature. |
| Lt_Murgen01-23-07, 12:35 PM | Check out The PEACH ORCHARD (http://boards1.wizards.com/showthread.php?t=751813)? I am trying to create a compendium of classes that are more or less ready for playtesting. Perhaps you can find something useable there. For all you who posted here with suggestions- drop me a note in the Peach orchard, and I will add them to the list of your choice! |
| Zumarai01-23-07, 12:46 PM | Isn't there a Bounty Hunter PrC in Star Wars d20? |
| The_Shaman01-23-07, 05:00 PM | Er, probably... just that it's not the right forum. Even the Slayers D20 Bounty Hunter would be closer :) |
