| Hurrichocobo04-24-05, 02:50 AM | I'm interested in trying to come up with a class or feats or some sort of way of translating a Breakdance fighting style class. Think Eddy Gordo from Tekken or how Sasuke from Naruto fights by spinning around on his hands and using his feet. If anyone has any ideas on this it'd be helpful. Maybe some sort of dodge bonus to AC? I'm not sure..thanks for any help. |

For special features, humm.. I'll have to take some more thought on this.. it would actually be kinda interesting.. |

Historically speaking, this form of martial art would have shown up long after even the renaissance era, but there's no technical reason why it couldn't have shown up among slaves of the Illithid or Drow. Functionally, it would be very little different from a monk, although slow fall would definitely have to go, as that ability depends upon having free arms and this martial art is designed to deal with the fact that your hands are bound. You'd probably have to get rid of the wonky-fu powers, too, as battle dancers are more of a pure martial artist class than someone seeking enlightenment. You could arguably "balance" this all out by merely stripping the wonky-fu and replacing it with full BAB. The battle dancer class showed up in AD&D, in an old edition of... whatever the magazine was. It was an NPC class mostly because it required you to train with others of the tribe in order to progress, though it was fairly tempting on its own. It boasted the greatest damage potential of any fighter I'd seen up to that point, with damage progression ending up at 4d8 or so (at level 12-ish... it didn't go to 20 levels), and a staggering 9 attacks every two rounds! |

I've been taking a look through a few D20 books that aren't made by WotC but I have turned up with nothing so far. If anyone else has any ideas I'd very much like to hear them. |

If you look in your PHB, it says that the monks blows can be from fists, elbows, feet, etc. This will enable you to fulfill the potential of your break-dancing fool monk. (IMC, monks can chaotic, but only the lawful can join a monastery.) |

Also giving Prone Attack from CW as a bonus feat at early levels (in the 1-3 range) would make sense, as many oif the moves are done from a 3 point stance almost on your back. Definetly almost a monk. I studied capuera for about a year, (I was awful, and then moved, and so I quit) and the whole thing was based on movement. never get yourself in a position where you can't move. |
