Broken or not? [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-21-05, 07:10 PM I've had no experience with playing one, but from reading CW it seems that a Hexblade becomes broken with the Spellsword PrC. Other classes usually have to multiclass to get those lvl 2 arcane spells, but the Hexblade gets them naturally. Basically the only requirement you have to meet that you won't naturally get is the medium and heavy armor proficiency, but once again, easy to get. Tell me if I'm wrong, this is just speculation.

Hulking hurler is broken.
A hexblade with lower spellcasting than normal and worse bab is not.

First, you still have to multiclass or spend two feats in armor proficencies. Then, why do you want this? Did you really went through the low levels without maxed out dex bonus in light armor? Then you best keep on using this light armor, even the full plate with the total 9AC can't beat the chain shirt with 8AC and full speed.

Right, maybe that channel spell is useful, since you will be at the front line to deliver these spells. ... but what should it be? Okay, you have the 3rd level spell vampiric touch on your list, which is on of the spells, that fit tere perfect. But becoming a spellsword on level 8, it takes you till level 5 in spellsword till you can cast only one vampiric touch a day (and this is the spell through high charisma, if it is 15 or less, you cast 0). Another two levels, untill you can cast the second (what still is not that much).
And the caster level is only 5, meaning you drain only 2d6 hp - nothing!

Okay, with this practiced spellcaster feat, it would be a bit better, maybe you can convince your dm, that a prestige class with half spell progression should full advance a class with half casting, maybe this will somehow work and you do not suck ... then still, it is faaar away from being broken.

PS: And a hulking hurler is not really broken, too. A hulkinghurler/war hulk, that is broken. :D

Umm... dunno, I'm not really into making usefull characters.
But I know that spellblade is broken when it is capable of channelling cloudkills.

PS: And a hulking hurler is not really broken, too. A hulkinghurler/war hulk, that is broken. Right :embarrass, and I can't make a character without hulking hurler that does obscene amounts of damage. Improvised weapons rules are broken. That is it.

The battle sorcerer would be a good candidate. Full caster level and mean spells. I think the warlock, to, if you take casting progression = evocation progression, but I only took a short look at that class so far.
