12-12-07, 05:56 PM Okay, so aside from the dragon shaman and the war weaver, what other boosting classes are out there? Preferably prestige classes.

The reason I ask is because I am currently playing a war weaver but I'm about to run out of levels and I just don't know where to go from here. It is a very war based game and low magic (I am the only arcane caster that we have encountered) which also means I have very few spells at my disposal. I'm 9th lv, 5 wiz 4 war weaver (total caster level 8)

Any ideas? Thank you for your help.

12-12-07, 08:12 PM Well, what are you talking about? Do you want self-buffs, or would you prefer to buff everyone? Also, a little more build information would be nice, so that we can weed out PrCs that you don't qualify for and couldn't easily.

12-12-07, 08:51 PM Take a level of Bard and head into Sublime Chord. Bards get several spells that are at at a lower spell level on the Bard list than on the Wizard list that you can then incorporate into your buffweaves, and the Sublime Chord makes sure that your casting isn't gimped at all. Take at least two levels in Sublime Chord. You can then continue on with SC or go back to WW.

I would say that you are at the perfect point to go this route, and it is one of the best paths to take as a War Weaver, period.

Not to mention that you get Bardic Music as well, another nice buff source.

12-12-07, 08:55 PM I am unfamiliar with the War Weaver myself....but I am very well versed in Dragon Shaman....who I find to be a very versatile battle buffer.

I am unaware of any other classes that buff besides those two.

Marshal, pretty much any spellcaster, Artificer, Martial Adepts (particularly Crusaders), Truenamer.

And, of course, Bards.

I'm sure there are plenty more.

12-13-07, 02:06 AM Prestige Bard could be a good choice. Why get a second spellcasting class when you can get Bardic Music and advance your spellcasting?

12-13-07, 06:54 AM With all due respect, prestige bards get rather poor spellcasting in terms of spellcaster levels, even though it is supplanted by adding all bard spells to your list (which may make them a good choice for beguilers). Rather, if you can spare the skills - say by getting 1 bard level, you may want to check out the CAdv Virtuoso - 9/10 casting, stacks for some bardic music effects and gets a few others.

Anyway, for a dedicated buffer I would probably stick with metamagic and anything that gives you bonus feats. IIRC Dragon compendium has a few feats that improve your buffs, as can Complete Mage (toughening transmutation, for example - even at higher levels sometimes not everyone has magic weapons). Unfortunately, I think clerics, druids and bards are more oriented towards buffing to begin with.
