| Elven_Pride03-31-07, 12:53 AM | I need to build a new character, and I would like a character like the Major from Ghost in the Shell. I was just curious how others would build her. I don't know of many prestige classes for the rogue, which I think would be the obvious choice. Not that she is a particularly sneeky character. I just see her as really skilled. Maybe a rogue/fighter cross class? Ether way, the campaign she might be in is expected to be a really high level campaign. Like level 40 kind of high by the end of it. Right now though, I would need her at level 15, maybe a few levels higher. Anyway, what do you think? Throw some of you're thoughts my way! |
| Hideous Phidias03-31-07, 01:11 AM | I would think monk would be a better choise. Sneak, hand to hand, hard to kill, and wears little sounds like the magor to me. Get a potion of invisability or the ring and start the killing. I would look at Psionics for her mental abilities, arcane or divine magic does not seem to cut it. She would most likely me a telepath. |
| Elven_Pride03-31-07, 01:21 AM | Yeah I concidered monk, but some of the abilities like Ki Strike, I diden't particularly see fitting her. I agree with the psionics part. Maybe a few levels in the Fist of Zuoken prestige class? I was also thinking about the construct part of her, but maintaining her own spirit. Would the whole brain case concept be a bit much in D&D? It could be built like a liches phylactery, except inside a construct body. |
| enygmatic_me03-31-07, 01:36 AM | You might want to just consider taking a Psionic Class and then Improved Unarmed Strike and Superior Unarmed Strike. The Chameleon psionic power would replicate the optical camouflage with ease. Telepathic abilities allow you to speak directly to peoples minds like the hardwired transmitters. With a little stretch of the imagination almost everything you need should be in Psionics. As to race the closest thing D&D currently has is Warforged, Half-Golems, and maybe Golems that have had a spirit stored in them. |
| Elven_Pride03-31-07, 03:05 AM | Yeah I think you're right with the psionics part, but I think it should only really be a minor part of her. She would only need a few psionic powers the get the desired effect. I still think I'll need to cross class with something to get the proper skills. Also, while the monk/fist of zuoken is great for adding her hand to hand combat ability, it dosen't help with her insane ability with ranged weapons. I'm sure it will take epic feats to be able to shoot bullets (arrows) out of the air. Thats why I thought fighter would be a good addition. She seems to be a master with all weapons, and the weapon proficiencys that she could gain with that class would be fitting. Just b/c a character is a fighter, dosen't mean they have to be an armored tank, particularly if there a construct. Also, where are the warforged found? I've seen them before, but I just don't know where. I think she would have to be a construct. Thats the only way I can explain how she would survive dropping off a building and landing without damaging herself. Yeah I could use a ring of featherfall or something, but I love the effect of a character jumping off a 110 story building, and landing on pavement, and the pavement cracks, but the person walks away. Thats just cool. |
| Darth Sephiroth03-31-07, 01:57 PM | Warforged are in MM3 and Ebberon For the major, you're probably best off swiping from D20 Modern and build the body from the ground up |
| The_Shaman03-31-07, 03:56 PM | ^ The D20 modern sounds like a good idea, as does warforged (or an incarnate construct - see the Savage Species). Otherwise, I'm thinking fighter/rogue is a good idea of her general skillset (no one says a rogue has to invest in hide or move silently at all, although she does use a bit of stealth. You shouldn't need a PrC, but perhaps the Nightsong enforcer could be handy - wasn't there a saying that what's good for the goose is good for the ganger? |
| periscope03-31-07, 04:26 PM | She would probably be a gestalt Warblade/psychic warrior and a warforged (possibly use a feat to disguise yourself as a human). IUS and SUS would handle her hand to hand combat psychic warrior provides proficiency with ranged weapons, and you could probably make a power that increased your ranged prowess. |
