Hello,

from many different ppl. I heared, that a cleric with the Divine Metamagic +
Quicken Spell feats (+ Extra Turning) is very strong. What do you think about
these feats for a cleric?

Thanks,
Philip

Go for it. It could be mean. However, there's an item(I forget what it's called) that will help with the who CoDzilla thing)

I think he means nightsticks which gives clerics more turn undead attempts.

Divine metamagic is typically used on persistent spell, since that gives it the most bang for the buck (divine favour/power). A cleric does not really have that many spells worth quickening (since a divine power + quickened divine favour is traditionally used instead if DDM is unavailable).

Divine metamagic uses turning attemps at most a cleric has about 16, really thats only 3-4 quickened spells.

DMM Quicken is pretty much just as good as DMM Persistent. What you lack for the 24 hour stuff you make up with less Turn attempts used and versatility in quickening spells that cannot be persisted for which you may need. In addition, it is easier to prepare normal Quicken spells than Persistent spells because of the lower spell level cost.

It can also help that as a cleric you are not uberoverlord warrior every single combat. Sometimes it really is better during a particular combat a cleric just does support.

Another BIG advantage of getting DMM Quicken over DMM Persistent is the feat savings. A human cleric could select Quicken and DMM-Quicken at first level while getting persistent also require taking Extend Spell before getting Persistent Spell.

The time DMM (Persistent Spell) really shines is when it is gained improperly. That is when one forgets that you need to know the MM feat you are asking for Divine help with before you pick DMM. Spending one feat that allows a character to convert six turn attempts into an all day spell is too good but needing three feats to do that is not so broken.

Well ... with the planning domain and the Extend Spell bonus feat its an other thing I guess.

Divine Metamagic is just broken and stupid full stop. Banned it in my games. If you really want to break it even more it also combines well with the Radient Servant of Pelor PrC as well.

I guess it may be possible to get a DMM (Persistent Spell) at first level if that Domain is one of the selections. Of course I'd need to double check Persistent's prereqs but even then there are only so many spells to use it on at first level. A weakness at that time is that even a Persistent spell is still subject to Dispel Magic at its base level.

I'd agree that divine metamagic gets a bit silly sometimes. How does the Radient Servent of Pelor interact with it? I can't spot the broken combination.

Radient Servant gets greater turning which can be used to power it. At the least it can free up all your normal turn undead attempts. Its quite easy to get a riduless amount of turn undead with this PrC.

The greater turning is not in addition to the normal turn undead attempts. It uses up those turn undead attempts. The prestige class is letting use your Sun Domain power more times per day.
